AFL1502 GUIDELINES FOR THE EXAMS MAY/JUNE 2014

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE GUIDELINES FOR THE EXAMS FOR ZULU STUDENTS WILL APPEAR
SEPARATELY ON MYUNISA AND BY SMS.

Dear students of AFL1502,
It is with pleasure that we avail you of Guidelines for the forthcoming exams.
The Exam Paper consists of two sections, each counting 50 marks:
Section A consists of 25 Multiple Choice Questions, counting 2 marks each, to total 50 marks, and
set in English.
Section B consists of 4 essay type questions, very similar to the questions found in Tutorial Letter
101, Assignment 02, set in English and in all our African Languages. The questions add up to 50
marks. The two sections therefore together add up to 100.
Other General Important Aspects:
The following are important aspects that you need to remember when answering exam questions:
1. Always provide your facts according to the marks allocated. If a question counts 10 marks,
make sure you write down 10 facts or more.
2. All examples given MUST be in an African Language, not English or Afrikaans.
3. In a question asking a comparison between two subjects, when stating a difference in one,
the contrasting fact of the other also needs to be given in parallel, e.g. in the answer to
Question 3 in Assignment 02, where the novel and the short story are compared, see the
Feedback Letter (Tutorial Letter 202/3/2014), uploaded onto myUnisa, under the link
Official Study Material.
4. Consult other Exam papers, uploaded for you under Official Study Material on myUnisa, for
examples of possible questions.
5. Lastly, READ the exam questions carefully to make sure you give what is expected of you. If
you have finished ahead of time, read through the questions as well as your answers to
check this.

GOOD LUCK WITH THE EXAMS!
