Abstract - In todays fast moving world, automo-
biles are facing challenges in terms of having to
survive road accidents, increasing traffic, bad
road-conditions and high/express ways. Brae
systems play a vital role in controlling the vehicle
speed while avoiding road accidents. !he con-
ventional brae systems consist of basically an
actuator, transmission and frictional parts. !his
system is difficult for manipulated control by the
driver during emergency and panic braing situ-
ations. In particular road and environmental
conditions, it re"uires certain sill to have safe
and effective brae control, which is always not
possible from all drivers. #heel locing is a pre-
dominant phenomenon during panic braing
and this will cause vehicle sidding resulting in
in$uries and road accidents. In the case of a two
wheeler, being a single-trac vehicle, sidding is
one of the ma$or causes for fatal road accidents
due to loss in lateral balance. As the road safety
regulations are becoming more stringent, the an-
ti-loc brae systems %AB&' will replace the con-
ventional brae systems in all road vehicles to
avoid accidents and to improve vehicle safety.
!his present paper focuses on how anti-loc
braing system distributes braing power to
each wheel and prevents their locing and thus
allow driver to have steering control while
braing. !his is very important when drivers
safety is taen into account. Also components of
AB&, its types, advantages and disadvantages are
discussed in this paper.
