Mobile Learning
Students will use their smartphone, iPad or any other approved mobile device to
complete the following assignments. Students will be paired together with a student
who has one of these devices. Ideally, each student will have their own device. Each
student/group will download the app for each assignment. Each app is free for
downloading.
Assignment 1On This Day In History
o App to download: On This Day
o Task: Each student will view the events for Monday-Friday and record a
historical event that they choose for each day. Each group will submit an
email to drew.elrod@bartow.k12.ga.us with their five historical events for
the week.
Assignment 2M.A.N.I.A.
o App to download: Dictionary.com Dictionary & Thesaurus
o Task: Each student will take each letter of M.A.N.I.A. and apply it to the
causes of WWI
M = militarism
A= alliances
N= nationalism
I= imperialism
A= assassination
Students will use the Dictionary app to find a solid definition of each
term. Each group will submit an email to drew.elrod@bartow.k12.ga.us
with each definition for M.A.N.I.A.

o App to download: Flashcards+
o Task: Each student will create flashcards for the vocabulary terms
listed above. Students can search the web or use the Dictionary app
used in the previous lesson. This assignment will be a study guide
activity in preparation for the vocabulary quiz.
Assignment 4Student Planner
o App to download: MyHomework Student Planner
o Task: Each student will be required to enter the following
information into their Student Planner on the appropriate date.
Teacher will call students up to view their Student Planner. Students
will receive a daily grade for their organization. Student will enter all
of the information at the beginning of each week (Monday).
