1. OVERVIEW
Curitiba Intl is an airport located in So Jos dos Pinhais and is surrounded by high terrain (hills
and mountains) from the N towards the SE. The airport is located in an area favorable to the formation of very dense fog during winter time or cold days and nights, and its generally not so
easy to dissipate.
2. AZUL COMMUNICATIONS
DESPACHO CURITIBA is available on 130.900 mhz for operational calls.
In range call may be required in order to provide ETA and any special requests, and to obtain the
assigned gate or parking spot.
MANUTENO CURITIBA is available on 130.900 mhz (portable radio) for any maintenance
demand.
Calls to CCO, DOV, MCC and ESCALA are available through ROIP on 130.900 mhz in
CWB.
3. THREATS
3.1 Hot Air Balloons surrounding the airport with greater incidence during April, May, June and
July.
3.2 High Elevation Terrain:
Point 1 14nm SE of the airport 4,374ft
Point 2 15nm NE of the airport 5,089ft (Serra da Graciosa)
Point 3 29nm NE of the airport 6,155ft (Serra do Mar)
Point 4 34nm SE of the airport 5,046ft
* PM shall use the EGPWS Terrain mode below 10,000ft during all approaches and departures from this airport when not in VMC.
