UPSTREAM PASSAGE:
Adult salmon arrive at a sh trap,
attracted by waters rushing from
a new powerhouse. Fish are
loaded into a hopper, which travels by
tram up the cliff to a sh-sorting facility.
Some sh may be used for hatchery spawning.
Others could be moved upstream by truck or else
returned downstream.
DOWNSTREAM PASSAGE: Juvenile salmon moving
downstream are attracted by ows of water pumped
through the oating surface collector. They are then
trucked downstream, placed on the tram going down the
canyon and released below the lower dam to continue
their migration out to sea.
