Former Union Minister of State for Coal Dasari Narayana Rao was on Monday questioned by the CBI
in connection with alleged irregularities in allocation of Talabira-II coal block in which Aditya Birla
Group chairman Kumar Mangalam Birla and former Coal Secretary P.C. Parakh are accused.
Mr. Rao was summoned to the CBI headquarters on Monday morning and quizzed about the
allocation of Talabira-II coal block at Odhisa to Hindalco despite the screening committee giving it to
the public sector Neyveli Lignite Limited.

The CBI has summoned the former Coal Secretary, P.C. Parakh, for examination on April 25
for his alleged role in the allocation of Talabira-II coal block in Odisha to Hindalco
Industries.
The CBI has handed over five coal block allocation cases to the Enforcement Directorate for a
probe into the money trail under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act and the Foreign
Exchange Management Act.A case recently registered against Castron Technologies has been
taken up by the ED. The CBI has accused Kolkata-based company of having obtained a
Brahmadih coal block in Jharkhand in 1999, during the NDA regime, without a specific
purpose.
