Introduction
Background of the Study
In electronics and telecommunications a transmitter or radio transmitter is an electronic
device which, with the aid of an antenna, produces radio waves. There are three basic
architectures in designing low-power transmitters; the basic oscillator, master oscillator-power
amplifier, and heterodyne mixer-power amplifier --- each having its own advantages and
disadvantages over the other two.

Figure 1.1 Basic Transmitter Architecture
Low-power transmitters are made up of the same basic circuits like in any other
transmitters that serves as building blocks which are oscillators, amplifiers, multipliers,
modulators, and frequency synthesizer (PLL) circuits.
METHODOLOGY
Building the Base AM Transmitter Circuit

Fig. 2.1 AM Transmitter Circuit Diagram
The transmitter circuit uses a series-tuned Colpitts oscillator circuit which features a
relatively high-frequency stability compared to other oscillator circuits. The frequency is
determined by C1, C2, and L1. C4 and C5 affects the frequency as well but only a very small
degree.
