considered as the leading social networking site among the college or university students.
(Educause, 2006; Ellison, Steinfield, & Lampe,2007; Kolek & Saunders, 2008; Madge, Meek,
Wellens, & Hooley, 2009; Stutzman,2006; Tong, Van Der Heide, Langwell, & Walther, 2008).It
is an efficient way to use the social networking sites to educate the youth since through those

with their assignments outside of their class .But the way ,it also comes out some negative
impact of those social sites for the educators and students as some of them feel that it could

Furthermore, with the development of social media in the world, it had brought some of the
negative impact to world which there are some risks had been highlighted by social networking
sites. Social sites become a tool to place the youth in the danger position .The risk of social
media is include the cases such as online harassment ,cyber bullying ,privacy leakage and others.
In case, Cyber Bullying is one of the serious risks that cannot be ignored among the youth as it
was reach a big number of victim without any significant punishment. The problem of Cyber
bullying is slowly increasing among the world. Most of the young teenagers is the culprit of
using the social media platform to send text, images and other forms of threats, shame
t
Humiliation, harassment, and mental torture or hurt other children. This kind of negative impact

3.0 Pros and Cons of social media Changes the World
According to the boyd ,(2007); Davidson& Martellozzo ,(2008), it is clear to stated that positive
and negative of the social networking sites(SNS) and other social media platform influence the
peoples life such as the work, family, education etc. But, it is proved that the use of Social
networking sites has become a very popular means of peer-to-peer communication especially
among the young people ( Martellozzo, 2012) .The social networking sites such as Facebook,
MySpace and Google plus which can enables the teens to access the information in a way that
the previous generation would not thought possible. Moreover, Facebook is rise in popularity
among the world because it offering the opportunity for people to interact with each other and
share the information.
Besides that, through the research from the researcher, (Hew, KF & Cheung, WS, 2012), they
summaries that the social networking sites especially Facebook is a very useful and it is attract
t
the researchers and educators. Facebook be commented that it can be an effective tool of
education because it can offer academic benefits to both teachers and students. (Munoz and
Towner, 2009) From the aspect of students, they can use the social sites to discuss their group
project or assignment instead the teachers can contact their students with regard to some of the
useful coursework links. In additional, to support this point, through the researchers Mazer,
Murphy, and Simonds (2007) ,they also proved that there is increasing of using the Facebook by
teachers not only the students because believed that it can give the motivation and affective
learning compare than learning in face-to-face classroom environment.
Furthermore, Selwyn (2007) ,noted that Facebook is the social networking sites which its
attractiveness can let students interact with the education more easily in an informal way.
Although the research committed that Facebook was most important for social purpose. In
secondary, it is for the informal learning purpose. Students uses Facebook for contract with their
college friends by organize the group meetings for an revision or project work purpose not only
make those just an social sites .In the research got a students who is still studying say that
messaging to arrange work with other students not just social.
In the other hand, based on the journal of (Tanja,EB, 2009) ,it also got mention out that the
aspect of tutor and lecturers attempting to engage with students using Facebook. They think that
teaching through the social networking sites can help to break down the bridge and obstacle
between themselves and students. Duboff, (2007).As social networking sites was give the benefit
to the tutor, the company named as Lookabee had created the platform for tutor so that they can
create their own Facebook application which let them interact with the students. It save the time
of tutor as it is space that tutor used for distribute the school documents (Nicole,2007) .Facebook
t
be explained as a shared space and it also an education tool to break the traditional power level
between the tutor and their students.
According on Mason (2008), said that young teenagers are usually taking place in the medium of
cyber bullying. Cyber bullies is out of control on bullying as Cyber bullying can remain faceless
so that they would not feel fear on any punishment for taking place in those kind of bad action.
Cyber bullying almost will appears in the social networking sites such as Facebook because
facebook is a place that is freedom to speech. Bullies are lack of realize on consequences of their
action, they cannot understand the pain of people who is being bully. So that, Cyber bullying
should be prevented as it is listed as a serious social problem, this can cause the long-term
psychological damage among the teens. Withdrawal from school activities, school absence, and
school failure, to eating disorders, substance abuse, depression, and even suicide is the
consequences of the long-term cyber bullying. ( Chibbaro, 2007).
