INFORMATION ON THE NOISE AND EXHAUST GAS EMISSION CONTROL SYSTEM ORIGIN OF THE EMISSIONS The combustion process produces carbon monaxde and hydrocarbons. The control 2f hydrocarbons is very important. becsuse under certain con ditions they react to exposure to sun- light and produce photochemical smog. Carbon monoxide does nat react in the seme way, but it is toxic and poisonous. Piaggio utilizes “lean” Carburetor setings to reduce the pro- duction of ce-bon monoxide and hydrocarbons. EXHAUST EMISSION CONTROL ‘SYSTEM The Exhaust Emission Canto! System. requires “lean” carburetor settings and no adjustments should be made, excest idle speed adjustments by mesns of the appropriate screw.
