FRANKLIN HIGH SCHOOL

PHYSICAL EDUCATION POLICIES AND RULES


2014-2015


1. All students are required to dress for activity every day.
a. The PE uniform includes: T-SHIRT WITH SCHOOL COLORS (WHITE, BLACK OR PURPLE) or
Grey with Franklin Logo and BLACK shorts, athletic shoes (no tank or halter tops, hiking
shoes or thick black sole shoes) (May not wear clothes that will be worn for the rest of the
day).
b. Sweats in cold weather for outdoor activities, weather permitting. Shorts and T-shirts for indoor
activities. (jeans will not be worn under warm up pants)
2. Students will be graded daily on be graded daily on participation and dressing out for PE activities.
a. If a student does not dress they will receive a 0 for the Dressing Out portion of the class and the
highest grade on the Participation portion of the class will be a 50. The average of the 0 for
Dressing out and the 50 for the Participation will be 25%. If you do not dress the highest grade
you can receive is a 25 for day. (All grading procedures apply when there is a substitute).
Grading Policy for all PE Classes:
70%-Participation/Activity
10%-Fitnessgram
10%-Assignments/Notebook
10%-Tests
3. THERE ARE NO EXCUSES FOR NOT DRESSING OUT; PERMISSION TO BE EXCUSED FROM ACTIVITY WILL
BE GRANTED ON AN INDIVIDUAL BASIS BY THE TEACHER.
a. If a Doctors note presented (US licensed physician only) student will be assigned to the library
for to do paper (5 pages per day on selected topics, the assignment will be due at end of period)
STUDENTS MUST STILL DRESS OUT FOR CLASS.
4. If a student has an EXCUSED ABSENCE they may make up work, by writing a 5 page report on a topic
assigned by the teacher.
5. Students will use a locker for clothes and valuables. The student must provide his/her own lock, and
is responsible for securing his/her belongings during class. COMBINATION LOCKS ONLY!!!
6. Students must be in locker room before the tardy bell or a tardy will be recorded, the student will not be
allowed to dress, no dressing in the restrooms, 1

a. IF A STUDENT IS NOT DRESSING, THEY ARE NOT ALLOWED IN LOCKER ROOM AT
ANYTIME.
7. Students will be given 5 minutes to dress after tardy bell at which time they are to be at their assigned
space SITTING DOWN. They will be given 5 minutes to dress before the dismissal bell.
8. Students will not wear jewelry during PE class.
9. Courtesy and respect will be shown for classmates and teachers at all times.
10. ALL District and School rules, regulations and policies will be followed. (Please refer to student
code of conduct).
11. NO PROFANIT Y IS ALLOWED. If repeated offense occurs and discipline procedures have been met a
referral will be issued.
12. There will be NO FOOD, CANDY GUM, DRINKS OR SPITTING in gym, locker room or any are where
sports and activities are played or practiced. Teachers will assign detention, no warning will be
given.
13. All Cell Phones or I-PODS (any electronic devices) are prohibited in and during class. If found will
be taken up and turned into the administration. Absolutely no pictures are to be taken in locker
rooms.

I have received a copy of the Physical Educationrules and regulations for the class. I have read and understand that
I must follow the FRANKLIN HIGH SCHOOL PHYSICAL EDUCATION POLCIES AND RULES. I understand that I have to
follow the rules and regulations set forth by the Physical Education Department and the Administration at Franklin
High School in my attempt to successfully complete the Physical Education requirements set by the Texas
Department of Education.
