Animal Mini-book Instructions

Animal Mini-books
This book contains an animal mini-book for each country youll explore in the
Expedition Earth Curriculum.
Directions:
To put the mini-book together, simply cut out the boxes for each animal and
stack then in ascending size order so that they cascade like a waterfall book.
Staple along top edges and adhere back page to your Country divider in the
Expedition Earth Binder.
Have students either trace or copy the sentence for each animal fact.
Tips:
Animal Mini-books: Print pages 4-65 on copy paper
Animal classification Cards: Print pages 67-99 on cardstock and laminate.
I suggest laminating 2 pages back to back. Cut them apart and youll have lamination on the front, but not the back. This will make it easier for the Velcro dots or wall
tape to stick to the cards.
Book Basket: I suggest visiting your local library or doing an internet search for animals that interest your child. They can use the book basket during their free reading
time for a fun educational experience!

This book is designed to be a supplement to the

Expedition Earth Curriculum, though it could be used independently if you are doing
an animal studies unit based on country.

Directions:
Using a large piece of poster board or open wall space, create an animal
classification wall for display. As you visit each country in the Expedition Earth
Curriculum, complete the animal mini-book. If you would like more information, search
online for the animals that interest you and learn more about them. Once you have
studied the animals for each country, put their card up on the Animal Classification
Wall, secure with wall tape or Velcro.
Tips:
I recommend printing the animal cards on cardstock and laminating for durability.
I also write the country names on the backs of the cards before we get them all mixed
up on our animal wall.
I laminate 2 pages back to back so only the front is laminated. This cuts your lamination
in half and also leaves the back matte so its easier to stick Velcro or tape on the cards.
