To find out the chloride penetration of Ordinary Portland cement and Slag cement replaced up to 45%. This method is based on procedure adopted by Ohama et al to determine the chloride penetration.
Preparation of Test Specimen
Concrete specimen of cubes size 150 mm were cast for each mix proportion. Control concrete was of M20 grade concrete and designated as A. Subsequently cement was replaced by 15%, 30% and 45% of slag and 3 cubes in each mix proportions were cast.
After 28 days curing, the specimens were taken out and placed in an oven at 110 o C for 72 hours and cooled in an airtight sealed plastic covers to room temperature. After measuring the mass the specimens were immersed in 3.5 % Nacl 2 solution. After completion of 28 days in Nacl 2 solutions the specimens were taken out transversely split under UTM. The split cross section was sprayed with 0.1 mm Sodium Fluorescein and 0.1M Silver nitrate solution. The depth from the rim each cross section changed to white color was measured of different intervals of time with slide calibers which indicate\s the chloride penetration.
