Not accepted.
As per the clause 1.11.5 of civil specification,
Ladders shall generally comply with BS 4211.
Accordingly, the ladders shall be of designated
class A conforming to MOC of Steel Grade 43C
of BS 4360.
All the other detailing (Bolts, Nuts, Protection
coating, Dimension etc) shall conform to the
above clause 1.11.5 and BS 4211.
2 Ladders in contact
with water
Stainless Steel Accepted.
3 Angles for trenches,
chambers and
manhole covers
Galvanized
Iron
Accepted.
Manhole and access covers and frames shall
comply with BS 497: Part 1, heavy duty Grade
A.
Accordingly, manhole covers, inspection covers
and frames (except in pipe lines) shall be of Cast
iron coated with hot dipped galvanizing.
4 Chequered plates 10mm
Aluminium
Accepted.
5 Handrails for Intake,
WTP and Inamaluwa
pump house
Stainless Steel Accepted.
6 Handrails for
Distribution reservoirs
Galvanized
Iron
Accepted.


Further, detailed drawings for ladders and handrail shall be submitted for approval.

Please be noted that the Clause 1.11.5 of Civil specification has no relationship to handrails of
Galvanized Iron and we appreciate of providing Stainless steel handrails for the said locations.
