Industrial report

The industrial visit to UNIBIC manufacturing unit was very eventful. It was 21
st
day of the august
month in the year 2014. All the second year students of masters in finance and accounting (MFA)
and masters in international business (MIB) were eagerly waiting for the visit to UNIBIC
manufacturing plant. all were uniformly dressed and headed towards the company. The students
and the faculty were welcomed by Dhanajayreddy the employee of unibic Bangalore.
The industry is located on Tumkur road Bangalore. The industry produces biscuits and cookies. The
company offers oatmeal, butter, chocolate chip, and sugar free cookies; chocos; and butter cashew,
choconut, and jamz cookies. It offers its products through retail stores in India, as well as exports its
products to the Middle East and South East Asia. The company was incorporated in 2004 and is
based in Bangalore, India. UNIBIC Biscuits India Pvt. Ltd. operates as a subsidiary of Unibic Australia
Pty. Ltd.

Mr Dhanajayreddy explained us briefly about the process of manufacturing a cookie the process is
broadly classified into 4 steps
Storage of raw materials
Mixing of ingredients
Baking of cookies
Packing and warehousing
It Is the manufacturing unit which uses high end machinery sourced from Italy. They are the first to
use the Wire cut technology in manufacturing biscuits. This was the vital power for making delicious
homemade cookies.

STORAGE OF RAW MATERIALS
Raw materials used are wheat, oil, sugar, butter cashew nuts, oats, pista, badam, chocolate paste,
choco chips.
World class ingredients are used in manufacturing which are sourced from india and abroad and are
housed in walkin freezers everything from world class cashews butter chocochips etc.




These ingredients are stored in very hygine and clean place and are close to mixing unit.

Mixing of ingredients
Mixing of ingredients is an important aspect in making cookies. The ingredients are taken in proper
measurement and the mixing of ingredients and making dough takes place in automatic machine.
The dough is untouched by hand everything is fully automatic.

The dough takes the shape of cookie. Here wire cut technology is used to mould the cookie in shape.


Baking of cookies
The dough which takes the shape of cookie enters to the oven for baking. There are 2 lane ovens
sourced from Lazer Italy. These machinery are completely automated without any human
intervention.
The company is in the process of installing 3rd oven lane shortly which increases the production
capacity fastly.



Packing and warehousing
Packing is the best part of the industry with aroma which is mouth watering here the freshly baked
cookies are completely ready for packing.
From storage to mixing and baking to packing their facilities are of highest hygiene and asures the
customers finest cookies.

In unibic the underlined philosophy is to build group of people. There are three different shifts for
the employees and each shift has 100 employees. They do provide the work environment to the
employees in which they have great fun on what they do and feel the work they do.
They give the true value to the money for the customers.They produce more than 30 varities and
there are few new products on pipeline.

This is the only biscuit company which has BRC certificate. BRITISH RETAIL CONSUMPTION certificate
which helps to export the cookies to UNITED KINGDOM.

They also have WQA certificate which is manadatory to export across the world.





It also exports to middle east and south east asia. There core market is INDIA the home market.

3% of their profit is contributed to INDIAN ARMY JAVANS as a part of their CSR corporate social
responsibility.
