When the Sun Goes out
by: Tiana Jemeece Dahl

Two years left of sunlight.

Scientists have discovered that the
Sun is going to go out in two years.
But how is this going to affect the
lives of the Australian citizen.
.

Sun powers the world.

Sun equals energy!
Virtually all of the energy that is
used on earth originates from the
power of the atom (Our Energy
Sources). This power is released in
nuclear reactions; these types of
reactions are the sorts that happen
in stars such as the Sun (Our
Energy Sources). The Sun is one
of the largest providers of energy in
the solar system. The amount of
solar radiation that reaches Earth
carries enough energy in one
square meter to light up five 60-
watt light bulbs (Our Energy
Sources).

Most people use the Suns energy
in its secondary form which is
commonly known as fossil fuels
(Our Energy Sources). These
fossil fuels can be wood, coal, oil
or natural gas, without the Sun
none of these fossil fuels would
have been created (Our Energy
Sources).

This means that with the Sun
going out there will be no way for
the fossil fuels to regenerate.
There will also be no natural
resources as without the Sun there
will be no sunlight meaning no
solar power. This could lead to
many problems as, if there is no
way for the fuel resources to
regenerate, then most of life as we
know it will change.

The Sun powers all of nature.

The Sun and the Earth.
The Sun does not just create fossil
fuel, it also has some very
important affects on the Earth (Our
Energy Sources). The Suns rays
warm the planets surfaces which
helps power weather patterns and
the ocean currents (Our Energy
Sources). It also creates air
currents that help to drive wind
turbines.

Without the Sun there would nothing
to evaporate water, water
evaporation creates rain which helps
plants to grow and produces fresh
water which humans drink (Our
Energy Sources). Without the Sun
there is no way for plants to grow
because the Sun provides food for
plants by photosynthesis (Our
Energy Sources).

Plants provide us food and oxygen
which we breathe. Without the Sun to
provide them energy and without rain
which provides fresh water all of the
plants will die. Without plants to eat
and water to drink all of the animals
will also be unable to survive which
affects what we can eat.

Are we in trouble?

The Sun controls the seasons that
the Earth has as well as providing
energy to every living thing. Without
the Sun providing energy to plants
the plants will die, plants provide us
with food and shelter; the Sun also
affects the amount of fresh water that
is available. Without fresh water
nothing on Earth will be able to
survive. These are all things that we
need to survive and without the Sun
in our lives I think we are in trouble.

The Solution.

Luckily the government has thought
ahead and have sent their 30 best
astronauts into space. Well now we
have the good news - a new world
has been found in a solar system not
far from ours. To read the interview
with one of the astronauts turn to
