Evidence Report

Introduction
On one tragic summer morning the death of Anna Garcia was pronounced. Her short 38 years of
life consisted of a marriage/ divorce, taking care of her dog, and owning a bakery with her best
friend Lucy Leffingwell. The determination of her death has not yet been concluded, but
evidence has been collected to help the narrowing down of the potential suspects. When we
examined the crime scene, we found pills, various blood spatters, hair, shoeprints, cholesterol
magazines, and vomit. We have done experiments and determined Annas time of death and
done her autopsy.

SUSPECTS
The people under investigation in the crime.
Doug Green
He is Annas neighbor. They used to be in a relationship, until Anna broke it off a week ago.
Doug saw Anna at 6:30 walking her dog the morning before her death. He is the one who called
the police. (PBS)
Alex Garcia
Annas former husband. They went through a nasty divorce and he remarried as soon as possible.
Now he is expecting a child and is now having financial troubles. After the divorce Alex
remained on Annas insurance policy and he saw her the night before she died.(PBS)
Erica Piedmont
Alex Garcias new wife and expecting a baby. Erica was seen in front of Annas house the night
before she passed away.
Lucy Leffingwell
Annas best friend, they owned a bakery together. Lately theyve been having confrontations.
Lucy told us that Anna has been in the hospital lately and no one else knew. One thing she didnt
say was when she last saw Anna. (PBS)

PILL LAB
Since there were pills found at the crime scene, we ran a pill lab to determine what they were.
The drugs that we used were cocaine, acetaminophen, acetylsalicylic acid (aspirin),
methamphetamine, ecstasy, and the pills from the crime scene. I also tested each of these drugs
with three different testing indicators. After analyzing the data collected from this lab we
concluded that the pills were acetylsalicylic acid (aspirin). (PBS)

BLOOD TYPING
There was blood found all over the crime scene and I conducted a blood lab to determine whose
blood it was. I received DNA from Anna, Alex, Doug, Erica, Lucy, and the blood at the crime
scene. To identify weather the blood was A positive, A negative, B positive, B negative, O
positive, or O negative I used anti-serum A, anti-serum B, and anti-serum Rh.

+ - + A Positive
Anna Garcia + - + A Positive
Alex Garcia - + - B Negative
Doug Greene - - + O Positive
Erica Piedmont + - - A Negative

+ + - AB Negative
After this lab I concluded that the blood at the crime scene was Annas. (PBS)

FINGERPRINTS
There was a fingerprint found on the table in Annas living room. To determine whose finger
print it is you have to examine specific details/ parts of the print. For example there are forks,
eyes, and a fusion. There are also different kinds of a finger print like a radial loop, whorl, and a
plain arch. The fingerprint found one the table was a radial loop and the only suspect who had a
radial loop was Alex. (PBS)

HAIR AND SHOEPRINTS
Hair
The cuticle on the unknown piece of hair found is rough and damaged. So we looked at every
piece of suspects hair under a microscope to examine what hair looks like the unknown. We
concluded that the unknown hair was Annas. (PBS)
Shoeprint
I analyzed the bottom of the suspects shoes and compared them to the blood shoeprint. The
blood shoeprint contains an ant-like pattern in the center. None of them matched, so I inspected
Annas shoe and found a match. (PBS)

TIME OF DEATH
I conducted an experiment to determine the time at which Anna died. I tested this three times in
cold water, hot water, and room temperature water. They tested for 30 minutes each to get our
final result. That determined that Anna died around 7:00am. (PBS)

BLOOD SPATTER
I conducted an experiment to see the velocity at which Anna hit her head. The higher the hit the
bigger of a blood pile and the lower the velocity the smaller the blood pile. A pipet, meter stick,
blood, ruler, and a cardboard box were used. The same amount of blood was dropped from the
same height twice to get a more approximate answer and the height increased by increments of
25 centimeters each time.

Graph 1

As a result I could conclude that Anna hit her head from a low velocity.

AUTOPSY REPORT
Anna is a well-nourished Hispanic female who appears to be 38 years old. (PBS)
Her clothes are stained with blood and has vomit on the shoulder of her blouse.
(PBS) Her ankles are swollen and she had low oxygen. (PBS) Red injections on the
thigh and head wound on the right temple (PBS).

CONCLUSION
So far I have not found Annas exact cause of death, but Im narrowing it down each
day. My hypothesis for her death are she tripped over her dog and hit her head on the
table. Another one is she had a heart attack and as she was falling to the ground hit
her head on the table and dropped her medication and her drink. Yet I have not
figured out why there was vomit, but I still have a lot of experimenting to do.
