Nonprofits Join Together to Feed 100+ Greensboro Families for Thanksgiving
Greensboro, N.C. (November 13, 2013) AskTani.com and I Am A Queen have partnered together with a host
of nonprofits to present the Thanksgiving Food Giveaway for Needy Families. The event will take place on
Saturday, Nov. 23 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Windsor Recreation Center, located at 1601 E. Lee St.,
Greensboro, N.C. This special initiative is in partnership with Professional Divas who has selected various cities
to join together to impact their communities during this holiday season.
According to the Food Research and Action Centers 2012 Food Hardship Report, the Greensboro/High Point
metropolitan area ranks second in the nation when it comes to adults facing food hardships and not having
enough to eat. Sadly, this is major reality to a lot of people in the triad and they need the help of the community.
The Thanksgiving Food Giveaway will feed 100+ families in the Greensboro community for Thanksgiving and
with the support of donors we will provide each family with a food box that includes a frozen turkeys and
nonperishable items. We advise that families arrive early and only one representative will be allowed to receive
a box of food. This event is OPEN TO THE COMMUNITY and we will accept donations the day of the
event.
Please find below the donation list that will fill over 100 boxes to distribute to families:
Frozen turkeys
Cans of Green Beans and Corn
Cans of Sweet Potatoes/Yams
Packets of Gravy Mix
Cornbread mix
Stuffing mix
Macaroni and Cheese
Mash Potatoes mix
Cranberry Sauce
Non-perishable donations can be dropped off until Friday, November 22 (Monday-Friday) between the
hours of 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.:
