GUIDE
To
Facebook
WHY
Facebook
Te business uses social
media to reach current
and potential clientele,
rather inexpensively.
How you reach out to
your clientele is subjec-
tive, but there are certain
unwritten does and dont
s when contacting cli-
ents. Tis guide aims to
show you what are con-
sidered the more ortho-
dox ways to use Facebook
for business purposes,
and highlight some of the
possible pitfalls in using
social media. Te main
purpose of a page is com-
munication. Tis can be
as simple as a few pictures
and some basic contact
details. Te next part of
communication, is reach-
ing out to new and old
customers. A business
cannot grow without new
business! In communi-
cating with established or
new clients highlighting
specials or new products
are a good way to gener-
ate business from the site
or in general. Facebook
is a website that anyone
wanting to see this mar-
keting must go to the
page. As a company it is
not enough that you just
have a page, a company
must generate interest to

make people go to the
site. Tis can be done in
numerous ways, one is
paying Facebook, and the
other is generating inter-
est yourself by marketing
your company on social
media. As stated Facebook
is a relatively inexpen-
sive way to market your
company but the compa-
ny has to market itself by
self-promotion, to realize
the cost efectiveness of
this method. Te guide
will aim to explain what
methods can be used.
Needless to say Facebook
does tend to work for
certain industries better
than others, so if you are
self-promoting your com-
pany bear it in mind that
if Facebook is not a bona
fde source for new busi-
for certain industries
better than others, so if
you are self-promoting
your company bear in
mind that if Facbook is
not a bona fde source
for new business it
might be wise to lim-
it your eforts. While
paying for services the
same standard applies
that using the wrong
tool can be a waste of
resources. In paying
for Face-book another
consideration is how
well does it compare to
other paid media types?
Face-book is part of
making an online pro-
fle for your company
and in such, how big
of a part is down to the
company itself, but a
company must under-
stand the limitation of
Facebooks capabilities and
this guide will explain the
basic capabilities of Face-
book and what limitations
apply to Face-book.
Facebook
A Business
For
Facebook is a business
tool that lets you efec-
tively communicate,
market and monitor
your customers. You

tary at just the touch of

clients know what is go-
on in the business, especially
when new products are com-
ing out or other news is on the
Horizon. Primarily Face-book
lets a Business interact with
their customers or potential
customers. A good part of this
is Cover photos as they give a
visual representation of your
business to your clients. As to
be clich a picture says a thou-
sand words. Facebook also
provides paid for services to
market your business across
demographic lines, interests
or an area with which a per-
son might live in. In doing
this Facebook lets you target
those who should be most in-
terested in your business. cli-

Face-book also provides paid for
services to market your business
across demographic lines, inter-
ests or an area with which a per-
son might live in. In doing this
Face-book lets you target those
who should be most interested
in your business. Tis can result
in a lot more people using the
site that could be interested. One
of the most important parts to a
business is that Facebook ofers
both the client and the business
to give and receive feedback.
Another paid service Face-book
ofers is optimizing where bus-
iness pages show up in online
search results so this would
really be good for business
purposes. If someone would
be interested and looking for
a specifc thing, they might
see your business show up.

to the people and Facebook is a
really good way to go.
Creating a New
Facebook
Business Page
By: Nnanna Ihenacho
Te frst thing to do is to create
your Face-book account with
your email address and pass-
word, and only leave adminis-
trators with this privilege. To do
this Click on create a page on
the top. It opens up a lot of page
formats included. You can create
a page about a local business, or-
ganization or company, brand or
product, music, entertainment,
cause or community. Afer you
click on a business type of your
choice, you want to choose a
category, make a name for your
page, and then accept the Face-
book page terms. Some page
setups may be diferent. Click
on Get Started. On the setup
test page, frst you need to put a
description about your business
on about including a website,
at a basic minimum here you
are creating a place to fnd
your contact details . Next,
you upload a profle picture
such as a logo or self-por-
trait. In placing a picture or
images they should be either
your emblem or something
that communicates your or-
ganizations values. Ten you
need create your Facebook
web address. Once you set
up your page, it cannot be
changed, which is a limita-
tion as it is not customizable.
You can scale your profle
fle picture, click edit thumb-
nail, and then click scale to
ft. Tere are basic built in
marketing tools as you can
get more people to visit your
site by clicking Build Audi-
ence next to edit page. You
have the option to invite
email contacts, invite Face-
book friends, or share your
page.
Tis is the frst part to creat-
ing an audience as you aim
to get people to have an asso-
ciation with the page so they
can see your messaging, pho-
tos and promotions.
To make changes to the page
use the Edit Page to add
more information on your
content page. On the naviga-
tion bar on the lef side there
are the settings to manage the
page with options ranging
from basic to administration
rules. One of the easiest mar-
keting and promotion tools
to use is photos or videos to
grab audience attention. One
way to account for usage is
the posting of discounts and
promotions, as a general rule
the more of these brought to
the business the more people
using the page. If you are pay-
ing for trafc this could also
be used to account for the suc-
cess of any investment in mar-
keting. If you are to make a
goal of making posts your post
should be dine in a timely or-
der to create a fan base in the
future. A useful tool supplied
by Face-book is the calendar
as you can plan your sched-
ule to set topics and solutions
for your posts and marketing
eforts. Tey have to be post-
ed every one or two weeks or
every month so people can see
what is up to date. Events can
also have special occasions like
Christmas, birthdays, Hallow-
een, Tanksgiving, Valentines
Day, and more. As well target
your posts and marketing to
make sure people can see your
events or news. Also post a
website to direct the audience
here as well, as you might have
more in depth content there
that can aid a client to make a
buying decision. Lastly man-
age and review your perfor-
mance on your posts and mar-
keting eforts.

Tips
For Your
Business Page
Make your home site
easily accessible so us-
ers can view more con-
tent at your home site.
When people want more
information your home
site should be able to be
found. Other links linked
to your site create ads that
will help you link people
that are not connected to
your page. Facebook pur-
pose is to get connected
to your business. Tis is a
way you can start making
connections. Give visitors
the information that they
are looking for: give users
something they can use to
keep coming to your site
rather its something that
they can share with other
people or likes. Your cus-
tomers are excited about
your business so anything
that is boosting your busi-
ness make sure you post
that on your page so that
your user can share to
which will help you get
connected with other po-
tential customers. Make
sure your business is clear
to the customers and us-
ers. Your Face-book page
should be your business
name .
By: Deshauna Cole
Make sure that you clearly
state the type of business
you are promoting . And
how the community will
be afected: you will always
want to have a commu-
nity outreach where ever
your business is located so
that would be something
good to put on your page
on how the business af-
fects the community in a
positive way. Cover photos
are have a photos that will
demonstrate your business
in a positive matter and
relates to you or your
business. Videos and
pictures have pictures
posted of events and ac-
tivities thats going on in
your business.
Having multiple business pro-
fles is hard to manage, so
create one good account that
represents all aspects of your
business. Try not to be every-
where all the time and just be
involved in other things that
may interest people and bring
a community together around
our brand. Dont be a Spam-
mer. Spammers are one of the
most disliked people on the net.
We all dislike receiving spam
emails, so never go to anoth-
er users page advertising your
products or asking for followers
to come over it pretty tasteless.
Build Consistency, post content
that matches your business val-
ues and goals. It becomes con-
fusing when posts do not march
the services or products you
actually provide. You want to
promote what you sell,instead of
what you do not. Also, you want
to pick one direction for your
page and stay on that track.
Also, do not over share and
repeat posts as this is another

crowd displeasure. Keep
your private afairs, private.
On some social media sites
like Twitter it may be okay
to post multiple times a day
but you should limit yourself
to one post per day on Face-
book. With any posting do
not regurgitate the same stuf
as it shows a lack of creativity
and thought and can refect
poorly on a business. Anoth-
er big no is WRITING IN
ALL CAPS, as writing in all
cap show every strong emo-
tions an can be taken some-
times as aggression. Hash
tag overload ,Yes! It is okay
to have a #hashtag because
thats one the best ways to
fnd your business if some-
one searches that key term
but you dont have to make
every word in your post a
#hashtag.
Conclusion
By: Marcus Cole
Facebook is one of the
worlds most trafcked
websites and is the
worlds leading social
network. In Face-book
being such a popular site
that many people use,
Face-book ofers you
a unique way to mar-
ket your business to the
masses or a localized
area. Tis can be done in
numerous ways by either
taking the efort to pro-
mote yourself or by pay-
ing Face-book to do so.
Te most basic feature of
Facebook is that you can
communicate with your
goes both ways as you
can promote and mar-
ket; and the customer
can post commentary on
their experiences. Tis
commentary is a mighty
double edged sword, as it
also ofers the chance for
negative and unfounded
criticism of your busi-
ness. As human beings
we tend to dwell more on
the negative rather than
the positive, but needless
to say positive reviews go
along way as does good
pictures, video, and a
well looked afer page.
Another major disad-
vantage is that your page
is located at Face-book
and you will have their
content and advertisers
attached combined into
Tis can obviously be a
bad thing if your direct
competitor is there right
next to your content.
In all Facebook ofers a
very good way to pro-
mote your business for
nothing or very little, it
has it drawbacks but so
does every other form of
marketing paid or un-
paid. Face-book is not a
must for every business,
as every business has a
rent format of mar-
keting. In conclusion
if you are people fac-
ing business Facebook
is a useful marketing
tool if used correctly,
as it ofer the business
a rather informal plat-
form to communicate
with their customer to
market and promote a
business or organiza-
tion.
