HELPING THE DISABLED TRUST HIS ABILITIES

Disability does not mean being disqualified from having access to every aspect of life. At Atma Nirbhar-
Ek Challenge, an economic rehabilitation and empowerment project for the disabled, the volunteers
speak the language of kindness that every deaf can hear and blind can see. Atma Nirbhar focuses on the
abilities of the disabled to overlook their disabilities.
Life is all about creating a balance where either you alter the difficulties or you alter the way you meet
them. Atma Nirbhar gives consideration and support to unskilled disabled individuals to give them the
opportunity to earn a living and live with dignity. Atma Nirbhar aims at improving the quality of life of
marginalized people living in residential social welfare situations. The unskilled disabled individuals here
not only get the solution to their problems but they also get a fairer and greener world to breath in.
Disability is a battle people once thought could never be won, a fight that wears the disabled down but
Atma Nirbhar challenged the scenario and has successfully turned unskilled disabled individuals into
productive workforce for the nation.
Not for profit tea and grocery packaging unit giving preferences in all fields of activities to women
works primarily to help the mentally and physically disabled by creating employment. They not only
have a tea and packaging unit but they also provide other employment opportunities to make
ornamental potted plants, and paper shopping bags as they believe that every individual is gifted and
when unwrapped their packages every person can prove to be a productive and contributing member of
the society.
At the heart of every human is the desire to survive and prosper, to live without fear, hunger or
suffering. Disabled persons too have an equal right to earn and prosper. And Atma Nirbhar not only
gives them the freedom to live with equal rights but also provides them with additional facilities such as
subsidized vegetarian lunch at Re.1 per day, educational allowances for their children etc. Atma Nirbhars
project spreading sunlight has helped about 850 residents in 13 residential institutions in Guwahti.
The letzchange foundation salutes the cause taken up by Atma Nirbhar and has extended its hands in
help. Letzchange tries to overcome the economic difficulties faced by Atma Nirbhar by reaching out to
the entire nation, as the real solution to the problem lies with the people. Letzchange foundation unites
Atma Nirbhar and the entire nation to contribute in giving a better life to disabled individuals as
disability is a shell that needs to be broken for the disabled to breathe and prosper.
