Tardanico, Susan. "Is Social Media Sabotaging Real Communication?" Forbes. Forbes Magazine, 12 Apr.
2012. Web. 16 Oct. 2014.
This article is titled Is Social Media Sabotaging Real Communication? It was written by Susan Tardanico, who is a leadership and communications consultant and a professional speaker. The article focuses on how much we communicate with social media. One interesting thing I found in the article was that a teen used social media and text messaging to hide her true feelings from her family and friends. The girl even attempted to commit suicide. If there were enough cases of this it would truly bring attention to issues with using social media. The article also goes on to state that 93% of our communication is non-verbal which means that we cannot communicate effectively with social media. The information presented in this article will be very good information to give to readers. Keller, Maura. "Social Media and Interpersonal Communication." Social Work Today. 1 May 2013. Web. 16 Oct. 2014. This article is titled Social media and Interpersonal Communication. It was written by Maura Keller who is a writer and editor. This article talks about how our way of communicating is evolving from traditional face-to-face methods to using texting, emailing, Facebook, and twitter. It discusses ho w social media has a wider reach than speaking in person and that more information is readily available through social media so there has been a loss of privacy. The article does conclude that as a society we will be ok because we will adjust to social media like we have other forms of communication in the past. Drussell, John, "Social Networking and Interpersonal Communication and Conflict Resolution Skills among College Freshmen". School of Social Work at SOPHIA, 2012. Web. 16 Oct. 2014. This is a clinical research paper written by a graduate student at St. Catherine University. The paper was reviewed and approved to be published to the colleges online database by the school of social work. The author did his own research and even did a small survey to help support his findings. The paper gives some general information about social media before going more in depth about how it has actually affected our day-to-day lives. He speaks about benefits and concerns of social media which is good because I need to be able to talk about both in my research paper.
