This document outlines procedures for students entering and exiting the classroom. It provides steps for entering such as taking a seat, checking the board, and beginning warm-up work. Steps for exiting include securing belongings, cleaning desks, stacking books, and leaving chairs in place. The rationale is to limit disruptions when entering so lessons can begin, and to ensure students leave on time and the room is prepared for the next class when exiting. The procedures are rehearsed and positive feedback is provided to reinforce the expectations.

Rationale:
Why
is
this
important?
The
reason
to
have
a
plan
when
entering
the
class
is
to
limit
the
possibility
of
disruptions,
which
can
prohibit
the
beginning
of
the
lesson
plan.
Steps:
1. After
greeting
the
teacher
at
the
door,
you
will
enter
the
classroom
and
take
your
assigned
seat.
2. View
the
whiteboard
for
directions
as
to
what
materials
will
be
needed.
3. Find
the
learning
target
for
the
day
so
you
will
be
prepared
for
the
days
lesson
4. Begin
working
on
warm-up/spiraling
work
posted
on
the
whiteboard
until
the
lesson
begins.
Check

understanding:
Ask

questions

Rehearse:
Have
students
go
into
the
hallway
and
practice
the
steps
as
outlined
to
ensure
they
fully
understand
the
expectations
when
entering
the
class.
Give
feedback:
Point
out
in
a
positive
manner
those
that
demonstrated
the
proper
procedures
and
help
those
as
needed.

Rationale:
Why
is
this
important?
The
reason
for
having
a
plan
when
exiting
the
classroom
is
to
first
ensure
students
exit
the
class
with
enough
time
to
reach
their
next
period
class.
The
second
reason
is
to
ensure
the
class
is
prepared
for
the
next
class
as
they
enter
the
room
to
be
prepared
to
begin
their
lesson
for
the
day.
Steps:
1. When
directed
by
the
teacher
you
will
secure
all
of
your
belongings.
2. You
will
check
your
desk
and
around
your
desk
on
the
floor
for
any
trash
to
be
picked
up
and
placed
in
a
trash
receptacle
when
exiting
the
class.
3. You
will
place
the
school
text
in
the
middle
of
the
desk
by
stacking
them
neatly
with
the
dictionary
on
top.
4. Once
the
bell
rings
you
will
stand
up
and
place
your
chair
under
your
desk
and
depart
in
an
orderly
fashion.

Rehearse:
Explain
to
the
students
that
you
will
rehearse
the
above
procedures
a
few
minutes
before
the
end
of
class
to
ensure
they
fully
understand
the
expectations
of
exiting
the
class
room
and
leaving
it
in
a
state
of
preparedness
for
the
