Example:SummaryofAuthorsMainPoints:
The Wildlife Conservation Society analyzed thousands of species specifically the
declining bird and mammal species, however only several hundreds were selected to be
the base of the organizations work. The WCS also requested scientists to determine the
importance of each species to its environment. Small conferences within the United States
determined the importance a species had on the ecosystem, the potential service for the
conservation, and economic and cultural value of it. Shortly, a conservation triage was
developed which is loosely based on the medical triage, a decisionmaking system in
which patients are sorted based on the treatment they need. Many of the pressures on the
environment such as climate change and population expansion require aid for recovery not

ThoughtsontheTopic
The topic of the article brought forth an issue that can be considered harsh or
inhumane, however this conservation strategy can simplify the recovery of many
ecosystems and the species that live within them. I agree that species should be prioritized
in order to focus more on them because of their effect on the environment. The grey wolf,
for example, is an endangered species that controls the population sizes of its prey, thus
preventing overgrazing or overconsumption of these species and further harming the
environment. Although there is economic value on the conservation of theses species, i
believe that a species should be prioritized more on its environmental importance rather
than the economic value. Conserving species based on ecological importance rather than
economic will further help improve the environment and lessen the economic cost of
ecologicalrestoration.
