weld cladding in pipelines (api 5l x65) with different nickel alloys and gmaw processes. Bruno Luis Fernandes Aguero 1 , Oscar Rosa Mattos 1 , Kioshy Santos de Assis 1 1 Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro e-mail: brunoaguero@poli.ufrj.br The need of petroleum exploitation in ultra-deep water is a challenge that constantly demands from areas of research and development of new materials and appropriate selection to operate in conditions that combine mechanical solicitations in presence of highly corrosive fluids. Thus, the use of pipelines using low alloy and high resistance steels coated with corrosion resistant alloys, through electric arc welding process, becomes extremely attractive by technical and economical aspects, especially by combination between mechanical resistance of low alloy steels and the high corrosion resistance of nickel alloys. However, is necessary to define a methodology which allows evaluating how parameters of different welding processes can influence on the corrosion resistance of the weld metal. For example, the standards DNV-OS-F101 e NORSOK M001 diverge in which concerns the acceptable percentage of iron present in the overlay layer. In the present work the aim is to evaluate the influence of two different metallic transfer modes, obtained using GMAW-pulsed and GMAW-CMT, regarding the iron dilution in the overlay metal, from two different filler metals: Inconel 625 and Inconel 825. Corrosion tests were performed to determine the pitting and crevice critical temperature in different positions above the fusion line (1, 2 and 3 mm). Hardness profiles and microstructural characterization using optical and scanning electronic microscopy in different regions (base metal, fusion line and weld metal) were done. The results show that the dilution varies according metallic transfer modes and it is higher in the GMAW-pulsed in comparison to the GMAW-CMT.
