DEVELOPMENT OF FINGERPRINT BASED WIRELESS

VOTING SYSTEM

Under the guidance of
Mrs. N. Deepa

The aim of this project is to improve the security performance in the voting
machine and to provide a wireless transmission of the votes for counting.
This project uses a fingerprint sensor to capture a digital image of the fingerprint
pattern of a person. An arm processor circuit is used to activate the finger print sensor at
time of finger is placed on the sensor. The arm processor has a memory which can store
the finger print details of the people belonging to a particular area. A microcontroller is
used to compare the received image with the stored image. The validity of the voter is
displayed an LCD. A keypad is used to cast the vote if the ID is valid or else an alarm
circuit is used to indicate the failure.
The information from the microcontroller is encoded into RF format, which are
then amplified and transmitted through the RF transmitter. Receiver section receives the
transmitted RF Signals removes the carrier and decodes the signal into original form and
is given to the microcontroller. The microcontroller counts the number of votes and
displays it on a LCD.
This project is very useful to the Election commission department during the
general elections, to count the number of votes quickly and to avoid forgery in voting.
The hardware used are PIC microcontroller, RF transmitter, RF receiver, keypad, finger
print sensor, alarm circuit and LCD display. The software used is C language which is
used to program the microcontrollers present in the voting section and in the vote
counting section.
