Professional Relationships Comments
Professional &Collegial Learning
Teachers actively engage in personal
and collegial learning within the
professional community
Dannielle showed she was willing to seek advice and act on it.
She took on board ideas given and acted on them. She used
suggestions to improve her teaching.
Learner Respect
Teachers foster trusting and
respectful relationships with all
learners
Dannielle quickly established good relationships with the children
in the class. The children were comfortable asking questions,
answering questions and taking advice.
Parent/caregiver & Community
Partnerships
Teachers work effectively with
parents/caregivers and the wider
community
Dannielle was accepted very quickly in her teaching block.
Parents/caregivers sort her out to pass on information, ask advice
and seek clarification. She was confident and professional in all
her dealings with families.
Professional Knowledge Comments
Learning Processes
Teachers know about learning
processes and how to teach and
implement
Dannielle has a good understanding of the development of the
young people in the class. She quickly took notice of the children
that were slower to catch on and made them a focus for the next
lesson. She was able to build a concept over the week and
develop that theme.
Learning Content
Teachers know the content they
teach
Dannielle has shown she has a great understanding of the content
she is teaching. She makes constant reference to ACARA. Having
the teaching block in term 3 meant the topics were set and she
was able to accommodate the topics I wanted covered.
Learner Context
Teachers know about learner
contexts and diversity
Dannielle demonstrated a good understanding of strategies for
differentiating teaching to meet the specific learning needs of
students across the full range of abilities.
Professional Practice Comments
Planning & Teaching
Teachers plan and implement
teaching strategies for successful
learning experiences
The lessons were always well planned and implemented. She
always has something else in case. She prepared for the quick
finishers, those that needed extra to consolidate a concept and
those who needed to go beyond her original idea. These lesson
plans were over 2 weeks and not just a lesson here and there.
They were well thought out plans, catering for the complexity of a
real class.
Feedback & Reporting
Teachers assess and report learning
outcomes
Dannielle kept accurate records for each child. She was aware of
who needed extra time to consolidate an idea or who understood
completely and were ready to move to a higher learning.
Learning Environment
Teachers create a safe, challenging
and supportive learning environment
Dannielle used the environment I had set up but had her own
ideas for grouping for maths (after her own observations) She set
those groupings up successfully. They were functional and very
effective. They have remained in place in the room.
PRE-SERVICE TEACHER COMMENT
Overall, the experience of my practical block of teaching was challenging, enjoyable and I feel that I
was successful. Throughout the 25 days I learnt a lot and manage to complete successful lengthy
units of work through extensive planning and built positive relationships with the students and staff.
I am pleased with my effort and accomplishments and look forward to completing my studies.
