Spring 2014 Health Fair at El Salgado:

!

This past Spring, VCH successfully screened over 150 patients at the El Salgado Community
Center in Santa Ana. Due to our extensive efforts in outreach and our change in Health Fair
venue, we again were able to expand our services beyond just the Vietnamese community and
expand further into the Latino community. Services provided at this health fair include
hypertension and BMI screenings, glucose and cholesterol screenings, lung check, dental
services, bone density measurements, grip check, Hep B/C screenings, vision screenings and
mammograms. We also introduced a new acupuncture and chiropractic service with the help of
Healing Hands for Humanity. All stations were occupied with numerous patients in need of these
health services and about 40 patients were able to receive mammograms.

End of the Year Banquet!

VCH Prom: Under the Sea
This years Under the Sea prom-themed banquet was held at Sunset Rec Vista Room to
celebrate the dedication and hard work of our active members, staff, and alumni. Those
in attendance were encouraged to ask dates in the traditional prom way, leading to a
flurry of candy, posters, and flowers. Members, staff, and alumni enjoyed an evening of
delicious food, entertainment, and friendly competition as attendees battled it out in our
VCH Talent Show. Participants showcased an amazing array of talents including singing,
dancing, magic tricks, spoken word, and much more! Superlatives and gag awards were
handed out before we ended the night with the much anticipated crowning of our VCH
Prom King and Queen. The King and Queen led us onto the dance floor for their
inaugural slow dance as members joined them to dance the night away. Photos, hugs,
and a parting gift for everyone marked an end to our memorable prom night and an even
more unforgettable year for VCH.
