The Powers of the Presidency
1) What are the expressed powers of the Presidency (Hippocampus Video on the Expressed Roles of
the President)
military power, negotiation power, power to pardon, appointment power, convene and adjourn,
power to sign or veto
2) The implied powers of the Presidency have changed over time and change each time a new President is elected. Research the Limits of Presidential (also pay attention to the part in the video
above where the President has to share power) Power and write a response with bullet points
which state your opinions on how limited a Presidents power should be.
Presidents power:
- Congress shouldnt be allowed to override a Presidents veto, because then there would generally
be no point in even running it by the President
- Congress should however have a large say in declaring war, but not final say
- other than that the limits are tolerable

Line of Succession: Vice President, Speaker of the House, President pro tempore of the senate
The Impeachment process: Charge of misconduct must be filed, then brought to Congress. House
must vote, and then ruling is taken to court to see if the President is innocent or guilty. 2/3 of Senators must vote for conviction
