BABY MASSAGE EFFECT OF INCREASING FREQUENCY AND BREASTFEEDING BABY WEIGHT IN

Growth of infants aged 0-4 months is a rapid growth, so that when weight loss can not be increased
according to age at risk of an interruption study aimed to analyze the influence of infant massage to
increase appetite and weight infants in the Hospital Sitti Khadijah 1 Makassar. Quasi-Experimental
research design using the approach of Non Equevalen Control Group. The population of infants aged
0-4 months who came in first RS.St.Khadijah Makassar in October to December 2012. Data collection
by observation frequency of breastfeeding and weight. Data were analyzed with the Wilcoxon
statistical test with the level of significance was P <0.05.
The results that there is an influence of age 0-4 months baby massage to increase the frequency of
breastfeeding and weight, with a frequency of breastfeeding 10-12x per day with a significance value
of P = 0.000, body weight, while in the group of infants who did not receive massage with a
frequency of 7-9x breastfeeding per day with a significant value of p = 0.001 weight. The conclusion
was found that infant massage is proven to stimulate the vagus nerve increases intestinal peristalsis
so quick hungry, then an increase in food intake can increase weight. The advice can be given to
mothers to keep their babies do massage to help increase appetite and weight infants according to
age.
