The Defendant, Peter Cooper, through his undersigned counsel hereby requests that
this Court permit him to enroll in (2) two courses at Xavier University. Mr. Cooper
makes this request because he continues to be involved in an arduous regiment of
treatment for substance abuse and sexual/behavior therapy. This involves almost daily
meetings and appointments that constantly delve into interpersonal matters. It is believed
that he could benefit from an academic activity that would permit him to use his mind in
matters other than therapy. He has been compliant with all aspects of his release and
reporting. Steps can be taken to ensure that should the internet be used for classroom
participation it will be monitored by a professor or parent. Finally, counsel does not
believe that Mr. Cooper will come into contact with any minors while on campus.
Counsel has been in contact with Sister Rosanne Fleming, a member of the university
staff. She is also an attorney and will be instrumental in monitoring Mr. Coopers
studies.
Counsel believes that Mr. Cooper has taken significant steps in his treatment plan
and this opportunity will serve to assist him in his overall rehabilitation.
