1. State problem in your own words
To completely fill your tank it takes 10.8 gallons and you have of gasoline full. you can drive
40 miles per gallon. Gas cost $4.21 per gallon, in order to fill up your tank, how much will it
cost?
2. Process
When starting this problem, I worked with Taylor. We first wrote down the information we were
given:
-How much gas we have: full
-Price of Gas: $4.21 per gallon
-40 miles per gallon
-fuel tank capacity: 10.8 gallons
We then found out that we needed to find out how much gasoline is . With the help of Taylor I
think this problem came through smoothly to answer/ solve. I figured out that with of the gas
full, it takes $39.79 to fill. In order to fill all 10.8 gallons it would take $45.47. We then graphed
it out by cost and gallons.
3. Solutions:
The answer I got for #1 was $4.21 per gallon. The answer I got for #2 was $39.79 for filling up
the tank with of gasoline.
4. This problem wasnt that helpful to me at all. I can apply this to my daily life if I ever
needed to see how much it would take to see the cost of how much it would be to fill up
my tank. I would assign myself 25 points because I did all the work that was due.
