"Skills and Dispositions for Creative Problem Solving during the Artmaking Process." Art
Education. 1 Mar. 2013: 54. Print.
The article I read, Creative problem solving was about children who have creative
personalities and the ability to critical thinking. In the article it explains that critical thinking
should not be confused with intelligence anybody can build these skills. Some problem solving
skills in this article are explained as understanding meanings, cause and effect, making
predictions, analyzing assumptions, and identifying points of view. It explains that the kids do
not have to have drastic art skills they just need to be able to think outside of the box. In the
article children should be able to express their selfs in their own type of way. They should
question their selfs about what type of drawling they want to use, what colors they would use as

well as their peer would use. The article also states that they should be able to connect with their
unconscious side to connect with a very visual imagination. Teachers also effect there learning
ability by being more creative. Teachers who solve problems creatively are more likely to
develop children that are successful creative problem solvers. As well in the article is says,
teachers should not hesitate to serve as models when they solve problems with children, when
they verbalize reflective and probing questions while involved in problem solving situations, and
when they ask children similar questions to encourage understanding of the relationships
between their actions and outcomes. This article is going to help me because it opens up my
understanding to the visualization and understanding teachers need in order to work with art
students and help them become more successful thinkers and better artist.

Leuthold, Marc. "From Average to Excellent." Ceramics Monthly. 1 Mar. 2008: 104. Print
This article From average to excellent is more about criteria and observation of art. The
author reaches out to show that our education system is not grading as they should. There giving
to much credit to the kids and not allowing them to see true excellence in art work. For example
the author says I have never felt comfortable giving high praise or high marks merely because I
happen to like a students project. He felt that it seems unfair the students and undermines
their goal of finding and individual artistic voice. The article states that educators have the duty
to instill critical criteria, and that critiques are essential to an artists process. This article should
help me because it helps me look at what it would take to be an art and ceramics teacher. It
allows me to open my eyes to the critiques on the work I will come across and let me be fair with
my grading if I ever choose to prosue this career.

OConnor, Claire. Teaching Pottery To Adults. Pottery Making Illustrated 15.4 (2012): 39.
MasterFILE Primer. Web. 8 Oct. 2014.
This article is about teaching adults, as most people adults learn at different rates. One
thing different is they have wealth and experience and accomplishment serving as their reference
for all new learning the article states. Adults are more motivated to learn more. In the article its
says Goal oriented adults who want to know where they are going often appreciate a written
schedule and course description of how they will spend there next several weeks. This article
explains that adults are more reliable and more motived and in thought then children and college
students. They are open to much more and they go more by schedule then children and college
students. The author of this article tells that she starts the class out with handouts, then demos,
group learning, challenge, and questions. She states that encouraging questions is possibly the
most powerful teaching strategy. Students are your most valuable source for information on the
degree to which you are meeting needs. This article will help me by getting a taste of all angles
of teaching from children to college to adults. Also it would aim me for what techniques I would
need in order to deal with adults in the teaching career.
