The front upper position or the chart table in the bridge is selected as the installing place from the Vierpoiat of easy valchness of display and operation readiness. The dried place not to receive water sprays is Yesirable for easy maintenance. Mlached consisting standard cable (S mor 0x, with connectors) is used for connec ton with the Control box. Pay aliention lo the display surface because il made of polyester not to give a scratch, Please note that minimun (0 cw is required as service space for connecting / dis cotnecting the cable. TRANSCEIVER The (ransceiver is also yall-aount type ang is secured by 4 bolts in 12 hole. Select the installing location siere is convenient for adjustuent and service work and as closed as possib(e to the transducer Although a 49 a or 30m long non-nelal~sheath cable is attached to the transducer, it can be connected through the junction box JU51 (attached a 49 a long outer-sheath cable) placing al an appropriate place between them if the distance to the traus~ ceiver is gore than 30m The distance between the transceiver and the transducer should be Less than 70 m CONTROL Box The control box is wail-aount type aud is secured by 4 bolts in 12 hole. Since if as aot adjustable point bul the pover ON / OFF switch of the system is tocated. install it al the place where vith operation readiness. The conten} box distribules tbe signal lines to te display unit, tie analog acter and (he external equipmen! (serial signal and 200 pulses / nm. signal, and etc. ) The distance from the display unit sould be Jess than § mcr 10.0 if the attached connection cable (with coanertors) of § m or 10 is used vithoul extension. TRANSDUCER 5.1 HISTAACATION LOCATLOW OF TRANSOUCER Since this doppler log system uses ultrasonic waves in the waler, + sivitar to olher sonic equipment such as the echo sounder and fish finder, it is adversely affected by Ihe presence of air bubbles shict preven! propagation of sound waves. To avoid the influence of bubbles, il is important (o select a localion and a method of installation which ¥if{ minimize the bubbles. LL is difficult to find the best location of the (ransducer on the ship's botiow uunconditjonaily, the fol!oving clauses will be guidance lo decide the localicn. l/s () Select the tocation near the stem as far as possible, In the case of @ small ship, il is especially advisaile that the transducer is instailed within one-third of Ihe hull length (rom the stem, and is alyays beneath the waterline even on a rough voyare. Lb wa (2) Locate in flat section of hull (3) Locate anay from protrusions or the like which will cause bubbles. The performance of the system vill be reduced when the transducer is installed behind protrusions or a suction pipe yiich will cause cavitation and disturbance of the ¥aler stream, In such a case, the ransducer should be ins(ailed ahead of a projection and other obstacles. ( Select a location near the centerline of the full and install the device with the base line se¢ within the angles noted below. Top view Side view Sectional view ‘ J h ° Arwithia gt Brwithia ds Cr within 20° (5) Locate away {roa the other sonic equipment. hen the other sonic equipment will be installed on the same ship, separate each other into right and left side of the keel line and Keen as far avay {rom each other as possible. (G) Do not install this device on a cofferdam uoon which an ultrasonic device with the same frequency has already been installed. (1) When instatling tke device on a cofferdam upon which an ultrasonic device with a different Crequency has already been installed, install it as least $00 aa [roa the ultrasonic device, (8) Ho protrusions are perait(ed within a radius of Sm on the sector of 100 degrees iw (he cenler angle () The cable coming from the traneducer should be located separate [roa the motor, seacrator, aud ratio cables, (10) hen installing the device in tie engine room, install it just below the engine room stem side wail 3.6.2 GATE VALVE TYPE TRANSDUCER INSTALLATION In the case of a large shin, which has a long interval between dey docking, the gale valve lyse mounting should be utilized to hold the transducer The gatevaive should be installed in the cofferdams and the cable protection vate rtight steel pipe cun up above the ¥alerline from the cofferdaas, A manhole is required on the cofferdams for the waintenance. After the installation lecation is determined and the cofferdans and the watertight sleel pipe are installed, the installation should be done in accordance with the following procedure. (1) Check the bottom installation parts sent [rom the factory, then wake sure that ail pieces are on hand aad properly [it together, (2) Bore a hole into the ship's Lotlon for welding which should be fitted to the base diameter of the gate valve (785 +1 miili-neters) (3) Edge preparation should be done to the bultom plate and the base of the gate valve {0 tke boltoa of the shia The centerline of the base should be parallel with the centerline of the ship (within £1 degree), aad the bottox of the base should be {lush with the ship's bottom, Build-up welding parts are lo be griuder-buf fed and aade ever in S-meler-range before and afier the base to avoid the bubbles. (® Make the reinforcing plates and weld them on the inside around the base on the inside of the Mull as required. (5) Bix the gate valve to the base provisionally with the gaskets and bolts from the installation kif, The bolts should be tighteaed after the tastallation of the Ueansducer. (5) Remove the clap, the retainer, the oil-filled gasket ( 2), and the retainer rover from She gale vaive. (2) install the cetainer, the oil-filled gaskel (x 2), and the retainer cover on Ie Uransducer cable, (8) Fully open the gate valve and insert the transducer carefully into the gate valve and confirm thal the face of the transducer is flush with the bottom of the gate valve ase. (The transducer has been sel completely for this condition) (9) Install the retainer cover on the gale valve and secuse it provisionally with 8 sets of the MI6 x 60 hexagonal bolt, (he plaia washer, (he spring vasher and hexagonal nut, (10) Slide the Iransducer up and down to ensure Uhal the pult-up action is adequate, (QD Lower faity the (ransducer into the gale valve again, liniag up the boy (red) and-stera (bl2ck) marks of the (ransducer and the vase. Tighteu the retainer cover 8 sets of (ie hexagonal bolt and the hexagonal nul securely and equally. (22) Laserl the two gaskels between lie retainer cover and (he stem of the transducer and tighten the hexagonal bolts the retainer in between (13) Fix (he shaft of the transducer with tbe clanp to ensure that ao rotation exists around the shat. (14) Paint the base with the same paimt as used for the outside af the ship's hull On the face of the Jraesdacer, only cust proof paint should be applied in 4 thickness about 20 to 30 micro-neters, if the launch witi de done vithin the tera of the paint If ft fs supposed that the term of the paint will pass untii launching, mask the transducer face aud apply that paint on the transducer face just before Launching. Use only fine cloth (o clean the transducer face, sever use solvent such as thinner or acetone, Apply the paint evey)y over the surface, (15) Putl up the cable through the protection steel pipe above the waterline from the cofferdans. Arrange ihe flange joints of the steel pipe in suitable space for convenience of the cable installation. (16) It is recommended to run (he cable to the transceiver in the shortest route possible, and keep avay [roa generators, motors, radio equéouents and their cables. When power cables are running in parallel unavoidably, keep thea away from the cable al least 30 centimeter. The cable betyeen the transducer and transceiver should be within 70 meters at the saximun. (17) For the connection of the transceiver. the circular connectors in the installation kit should be used. The cuter shield of cables and the ground wire to the iwJ) should be securely connected to the ground termiua) of the transceiver. 3.6 JUNCTION BOX JB51 (for transducer) This juncliog box is used to relay the coaxial cable detween the {ransducer and the transmitter, 4.
