January 1, 2011

Dear Undergraduate Presenter,

I am pleased to inform you that your proposal, has been accepted for the 2011 Popular Culture
Association/ American Culture Association National Conference to be held in San Antonio from April
20-April 23, 2011. Your name and presentation title will be listed in the Official Program upon
payment of your Registration Fee. (For complete information about the National Conference, please
visit the PCA/ACA National Conferences website at: http://www.pcaaca.org/conference/national.php)
Your panel will be consisting of five presenters and run for ninety minutes. Im asking each panelist to
plan on a 15 minute (maximum) presentation, which will allow additional time for introductions and
discussion. From past experience, I have found that it works best when panelists present their
presentation as a talk (bulleting their main points, rather than reading their presentation, word for
word, although you can certainly use notes, as well as read selected excerpts from your paper). If you
do choose to read your entire presentation, rehearse beforehand to ensure you do not exceed the 15
minute time limit. Also, feel free to distribute handouts and/or use whatever AV illustrations you want.
AV EQUIPMENT
There will be audio-visual equipment available for your presentation. To see what specific audio-visual
equipment is available, click the following link:

REGISTRATION FEE AND HOTEL INFORMATION
As an undergraduate student, you are not required to pay the PCA/ACA Membership Fee to participate
in the National Conference although you are welcome to join if you choose. You must, however, pay
the Undergraduate Student Registration Fee ($125 if paid before January 14; $165 if paid before
February 14) to participate in and present at the Conference. For information about registration, click
on the following link: http://swtxpca.org/documents/106.html . To pay the Conference registration fee
on-line by credit or debit card, click: http://www.pcaaca.org/conference/membership_registration.php
and follow the instructions. (Once again, as an undergraduate student, you do not have to become a
PCA/ACA member or pay the PCA/ACA Membership Fee in addition to the conference registration
fee to present at the Conference.)
The National Conference will be held at the San Antonio Marriott Rivercenter and Riverwalk Hotels,
which is located right on the famous San Antonio Riverwalk with its upscale restaurants,

.
You do not have to stay at the San Antonio Marriott Rivercenter and Riverwalk Hotels. If you do plan
to stay at these hotels, it is up to you how many nights you wish to stay. As soon as I know the exact
date and time of your undergraduate panel, I will send that information to you so you can make your
travel plans and reservations accordingly.
***VERY IMPORTANT NOTE***
We understand that plans sometimes change. If you cannot make it to the National Conference,
please notify me as soon as possible so I can make room for other presenters who are on the
waiting list. After January 15th, 2010, you will also need to notify Delores Rauscher at
rausche5@msu.edu , in addition to me, so she can withdraw your name from the list of
presenters.
Thank you for participating in the PCA/ACA National Conference. If you have any questions or need
further information, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Sincerely,
Mark Rubinfeld, Ph.D.
