Warm-Ups:
1) Panting- 4, 8,12,16 Counts
a. Practice- diaphragmatic use and control of breathe
b. Assessment- watch for moment of breathe and listen for constant huh sound
2) Wi-Oo-Wi-Oo-Wi (SFMRD)
a. Practice- placement of sound in a forward position and lower register
b. Assessment- listen for similar sounds on both vowels/focus in lower register
3) Di Di Doh-oh-oh-oh ( DRMFS:}}SDSMD arpeggio)
a. Practice- articulation and upper extension of the voice ( hand gesture to reinforce up
and over the break)
b. Assessment- listen for consistent articulation of Ds and connectivity of the voice on the
upper notes of the arpeggio.
4) So-Mi Canon
a. Practice- Handsigns and maintaining an independent, but balanced parts
b. Assessment- Watch for consistent handsigns and listen for tall vowels, intonation and
balance across the parts.
Sight Reading:
1) Ladders
a. Starting on Do, with handsigns in Dmaj

a. Objective: Sightread line with accuracy-handsigns- staying in tune- rising lines


b. Process
i. Identify the Key- Line/Space, starting pitch, ending pitch
ii. Point out difficult passes- rising line, leaps not in tonic triad
iii. Chant- handsigns, correct rhythm and solfege
iv. Establish Key- tonic triad, starting pitch
v. Read- slow tempo, steady snap
vi. Rework-missed intervals/rhythms/
vii. Reread- handsigns, listen for section reword intervals
c. Anticipate- Tall vowels throughout- consistent pitch- Fa/Re in M.3 and So/Mi in M.8
d. Assessment- watch for correct handsigns, full participation, tall vowels and correct
syllables/ pitch/ rhythm
Rehearsal:
Housekeeping: Pass out Ticket to Kingdom: if not working, number measure or finish writing in
solfege for The Pasture.

1) Objective- Review melodies in smart sheet, women review on 21-26, and work on new revoicing
of measure 35-38 with alto/men parts
a. Reviewing Melodies- Smart Sheet
i. Women/Men-set key, sing first melody on solfege
ii. Ask about difference between measure ( time signatures)
iii. Count melody- snap on eighth rest in bar
iv. Sing on solfege-snap on rest
v. Context
1. Women M. 5 in music
2. Men M. 35 in music
b. Anticipate- Inconsistent snaps on restnot understanding of time signatures
c. Assessment- listen for correct counting and solfege (handsigns) as well as unison sound
through the choir
d. Reviewing Women- M. 21 ( Men- ticket to kingdom, Pasture solfege)
i. Soprano Chant 21-24Sing on solfege
ii. Alto sing 21-24

f. Assessment- listen for correct chords at 23 and 25, and uniformity of sound

ii. Altos- measure M. 39-42 write in Tenor line- holding Mi in M. 41 instead of drop

iv. Alto- Chant 39-42, Sing on solfege ( talk about down the octave)
v. Men/Alto- Sing 35- 42 together ( hold 39 chord)
h. Anticipate- Tenor/Bass missing rest on M. 39 entranceMen unison Do in M. 3Alto
revoicing solfege
i. Assessment- Listen for unison sound through both men sections. Make sure alto line is
correct in solfege for chanting and singing

2) Closure:
a. Thank you so much for your patience and work today! We have improved so much and I
know you all will continue to be successful. Thank you for your hard work and focus
today Tomorrow we will review the mens part and work on solidifying the solfege
and new section for the altos.
3) Reflection:
a. This lesson is suppose to address the previous work on The Pasture for the womens
section and explain about the new revoicing for M. 35-42. The warm-ups/sightreading
are designed to expand the voice, reading ability, and general musicianship. Activities
are varied for all students and to keep focus.
4) Accommodations:
a. ELS students- Either pair the ELS student with a buddy or use lots of modeling, Also,
visual help such as gesturing to music and vocal technique is useful for ELS students.
b. GL students- Have students, when working on sections of music, to challenge them with
additional musical ideas. Dynamics, contour of the line, feeling, and energy can be used
to challenge those who have already mastered the rhythm and solfege.
