Reflective Analysis of Portfolio Artifact

Rationale/Reflection
InTASC Standard:
Standard 7:
The teacher plans instruction that supports every student in meeting rigorous learning goals by
drawing upon knowledge of content areas, curriculum, cross- disciplinary, and pedagogy, as well
as knowledge of learners and the community context

Brief Description of Evidence:

As part of my Education 210 Planning for the Elementary Education Classroom course, during
the spring semester of 2014, I created a lesson plan. Through this lesson plan we created a
project for an art auction for Apple Tree. This assignment was made to plan, implement, and
reflect. It allowed us as students to learn how to construct a lesson with both teacher and student
point of views.

Analysis of What I Learned:

I gained knowledge from this assignment by engaging with learners in their community. While
implementing this lesson I recognized the need to adjust content to the students level of
understanding. I also learned the importance of involving the students. I can learn from the
students just as much as they learn from me.

How This Artifact Demonstrates my Competence on the InTASC Standard:

My competence in this standard is proven by my ability to cross art with science by having
students draw a picture that reflected what they thought of when the term nature was used.
They then took their thought and created a colorful, visual image on the table. I taught in a way
that my students had a guided choice of work activity. They had three stations that they worked
on at their own speed. I organized the learning space, so everything was accessible to every
child. I had everything well prepared to work hands on.
