WHAT IS MARIJUANA?
Marijuana is an illegal plant that people smoke to get high
Cannabis, commonly known as marijuana is a preparation of the cannabis
plant intended for use as a psychoactive drug and/or as medicine.
It is classified as a Schedule 1 Controlled Substance.

Two different types of Marijuana:

Cannabis Sativa is a shortened botanical term for the hemp plant. It grows around
18 ft. high with sturdy stocks.
Cannabis Indica is used for the production of hashish. Indica strains tend to have a
higher cannabidiol (CBD) content than Sativa strains. Most available indica strains
have been selected for low levels of CBD. Users report having more of a "stoned"
feeling and less of a "high" from Indica when compared to Sativa. The Cannabis
indica high has beneficial properties such as pain relief.

TETRAHYDROCANNABINOL (THC)
Formula: C21H30O2
21 Carbons Molecules
30 Hydrogen Molecules
2 Oxygen Molecules

THC CONTINUED
THC is the chemical responsible for most of marijuana's psychological effects.
THC changes behavior by binding to receptors on nerve cells
Cannabinoid receptors are concentrated in certain areas of the brain
associated with thinking, memory, pleasure, coordination and time
perception.
There are also cannabinoid receptors on nerves in other parts of the body.
The Immune System

THC stimulates cells in the brain to release dopamine, creating euphoria. It

also interferes with how information is processed. THC can induce
hallucinations, change thinking and cause delusions.
On average, the effects last about two hours, and kick in 10 to 30 minutes
after ingestion.
