Dear Reader,
Athletes are highly looked at by young children as role models. Society, now days put our
athletes on a pedestal so high that they tend to forget these athletes are still human and like all humans
they make mistakes. Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines athlete as: a person who is trained or skilled in
exercises, sports, or games requiring physical strength, agility, or stamina. ("Athlete." MerriamWebster.com.), as you can see role model is not a part of the definition for athlete. Role model is defined
by Merriam- Webster Dictionary as: someone who another person admires and tries to be like. ("Role
Model." Merriam-Webster.com). The two definitions have totally different meanings can they be
conjoined? Should society consider athletes as role models?
I introduce to you: Tips to Making an Athlete Care about Being a Role Model is the subject of
my project. I came up with this idea from my research of why athletes are not role models, and why
parents should be the most important role model to their children. This topic is very important to me
because I see a lot of children who admire athletes, then they are let down when an athlete commits a
crime or make a negative decision. My main character in this project will be the children who look up to
athletes and what their feelings are athletes. The setting is of this project would be on display in the lobby
of the athletes facility for them to see and to remind them of not only their fans, but the children who want
to be just like them. My theme that will be carried throughout my genres will be this:
You will see this picture and saying at the end of each genre. I have learned that there are many
ways to get a point across. I also learned through my genres that there are different approaches that can
make your idea easier to understand. In this project you will be pleased to see the creativity and time took
into making my point come across clear and easily understood.
Athletes Are Not Role Models But They Should Carry Themselves As Respectable Human Beings With A
Purpose, Not Just For Entertainment Purposes Only.
Poster:
Doing a poster in a visual form using an image of sports with
words is a great way to get people to visualize a change. Through
this genre it shows that children are watching athletes and they
should be more careful of their actions to become better as a
person and an athlete. This genre demonstrates that an athlete
may not be a role model but they can have a positive influence on
children instead of having a negative influence. My main purpose
for this poster is to get the athletes attention.
Picture:
I chose to use this picture as my visual display because it gives the
viewers something to visualize. Here stands three well known
athletes who have disappointed their fans and three different
ways. This picture shows that its not just one type of crime that
they can commit but depending on the athlete and their
addiction. All three of these athletes have made trouble mistakes
that will follow them for the rest of their life. This is one of the
prime reasons why athletes should realize that their life is on a
fore front of the world to see and they should be very mindful of
what they do.

Poem:
I chose to do a poem for my creative writing because it will touch
a players heart by reading how they really affect the children that
look up to them. I want to show the athletes that what they makes
children think its ok for them to do those same actions when its
not ok. Through this poem the athlete will be able to feel the
emotions of a child as they go from a happy place to a sad place
because of the athletes bad decision.
I have read the contract, and agree to meet the criteria above. If I do not meet the
criteria above, I understand the consequences.

Contract:
I chose to do a contract as my structured genre because its a great
way to get athletes to think about their actions before they do
anything negative. Athletes will know upfront what will not be
tolerated and the consequences of any criminal act and or
conviction. This contract will serve the purpose of making
athletes more responsible for their actions. Through this genre I
want to show that if more sports facilities used contracts that
addressed the consequences of an athletes choice than athletes
would be more mindful when making negative decisions.
