observations orally and by producing captioned pictures.

Outcomes:
Specific
Learning
Outcomes:

1. Identify each of the senses, and explain how we use our senses in interpreting the world.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Students will:
1. identify the two parts of the body that allow us to hear sound
2. recognize parts of the human ear
3. recognize that ears are able to hear different sounds
4. recognize that using both sight and hearing makes simple tasks easier

Learning Activity #2

meet me at the red carpet for a science lesson!

We are going to be talking about the ear and hearing today! Remember
when we read about that in this book (show book we read last week)
Sit criss cross apple sauce
Not interrupting while I am talking
You need to use your ears to listen carefully

We are going to watch a video on how our ear works and then

Time
11:00
2 minute

We are going to watch a video

Body
Video
Kids Health Videos How the Ear Works
Observation question and answer: do they understand that the brain
and the ear work together to tell us what sounds we are hearing
Smartboard Presentation and Discussions
Reviewing the parts of the ear from projects and from the video
Discussion on the different volume our ears can hear.
Tell me some loud sounds that you may hear?
Everyone get with an elbow partner and talk to eachother about any

quiet sounds you may hear

Different types of sounds and volume thumbs up if you like the sound
and thumbs down if you do not like the sound
No talking when the sounds are on so that everyone has a chance to
hear them
Guess that sound video allow them to shout out the answers after
they hear it
Who likes loud noises better show of hands who likes quiet noises
better show of hands?
The zylophone demonstration for pitch
We are now going to do an activity in our books about how we listen
with our ears. So everyone move quietly to their desks
Observation of answers
Discussion review of video
Listen to Draw Activity from science work books
Tell students to clear their desks and just get their piece of paper and
their crayons
Tell them to pick any crayon and raise it in the air so I can see it
Tell them to draw a big circle the size of the paper
Then tell them to find their brown crayon and raise it up
Draw a small circle inside of the big circle
Raise your green crayon
Draw two circles above the brown circle
Take out your red crayon and raise it up
Draw a curved line (show on the board) under the brown circle
Now hold your papers up so I can see them

Do it again but this time model it for them on the smart board so that
they can see it
Was that easier now that I you could use your eyes to see and your ears
to hear?
Yes it is easier when we use 2 of our senses instead of one
Observation are they able to listen to the instructions to hear what color
and image they need to draw. Are they able to draw a more clear happy
face when they are able to listen and view the instructions
Discussion is it easier for you to listen when you get to see as well as
hear?
