How Well the Brain Is Known
The brain is the most complex organ known to man; whether it is in humans or in
animals, all of our brains are there for the same purpose. It keeps humans and animals alive, tells
them what is right from wrong, and each piece of the brain, are highly specialized to do its
purpose. In the 1890s, William James and Boris Sidis, attempted raised a child to perform more
intelligent than a normal human being. The scientists were actually able to reach their goal, and
raise the child to have an IQ of 250. James later went on to say humans only meet a fraction of
their full mental potential. This is where the world went hay-wire and took that to mean
humans do not use their brains to its full potential. James was trying to explain that humans just
do not challenge themselves enough to what they are capable of. From my experiences from the
normal human being and actually being with and studying with anatomy specialist, I can use my
data to conclude that humans use 100 percent of their brains, 100 percent of the time.
On November 18, 2014 I sat down and talked with William Astudillo. Astudillo majored
in business in college and continues his profession to this day. I used him to confront the
misunderstandings a normal person with no background knowledge on the brain. The first
question I asked him, how much of the brain do you think humans are capable of using? He
answered back with the common response of, ten percent. Reports show that 60 percent of the
United States population and half of all science teachers believe that we only use ten percent of
our brains potential; not true at all. He went on to argue asking me what evidence I had to back

up my claim. I began with explaining how MRIs are able to focus on a single cell of the brain,
and the grand total shows that every brain cell is in use 100 percent of the time, or even how our
bodies I countered back his question by asking what evidence he had to prove that we only use
ten percent; to my surprise he had nothing to say.
With HOSA competitions around the corner, I sat down with Mrs. Maryam Fischer, a
health-science teacher and assistant athletic trainer at St. James High School. I went on to study
in depth about how the brain works and what each part of the brain does. I found that the brain
uses 20 percent of our bodies total energy and only got higher the younger we were. Studies also
showed that unused brain cells degenerate over time, and no autopsy has ever shown large scale
degeneration without being linked to any type of brain disease. Humans have about 100 billion
densely packed neurons, giving us the ability to be incredibly smart. Throughout the hours spent
with Mrs. Fischer did I ask the age old question about the ten percent theory, until the very end.
With all the evidence gathered, I was able to take it to end and prove once and for all, why we do
use 100 percent of our brain.
Throughout my entire experience, from normal education based people, to doctors and
teachers, together with the evidence I personally collected, I was able to conclude that humans
do use 100 percent of their brains potential, 100 percent of the time. I also experienced just how
hard it is to get in contact with a doctor of any type of field. Taking all the evidence I gathered, I
was able to conclude that the smartest of humans, trained to be the smartest. They were not born
with extra brain power, or even extra brain cells. We are all capable of being the smartest person
in the world, we just do not push ourselves to become the smartest. Through extensive hours of
brain training and problem solving, to the normal eye, anyone can become the smartest person in
the world. We can become that and more, because we use 100 percent of brain.
