Annotated Bibliography: Alzheimers-The Beheading Dread
Abel Hank. Unraveling Alzheimers Disease. n.p: Bookpunner, 2014. Web.
The following book provides an ample amount of information revolving around the notion,
structure, and functionality of Alzheimers disease (AD) . The author introduces the diseases and
gradually elevates into broader subjects, such as tips to reduce individuals chances of
developing Alzheimers and thoroughly explains how the disease affects the mind, as well as
others. In a particular chapter within the book, the author guides and informs his reader how to
cope and care for an AD patient. This chapter identifies proper methods to utilize when taking
care of an Alzheimer patient as a caregiver or relative. The book also includes helpful guidelines
which include keeping a journal to monitor the Alzheimers patients behavior, eating habits, and
activities to keep track of their daily routine and notice if any alterations have occurred within
the progression of the disease. This book is vital to my research since it contains a lot of credible
materials and effective tips regarding my topic .

This article compares the broad views among individuals who had family member diagnosed
with Alzheimers to individuals who dont. The article consists of data deprived form a poll
conducted throughout five different countries by Alzheimer Europe and the Harvard School of
Public Health. The article states that the survey was conducted trough the random selection of
phone numbers within the five countries and consisted of eight general issues that ranged from
peoples opinion toward Alzheimers awareness to the governments finances on research for the
disease . Within the researchs results, it was demonstrated that a considerably large amount of
the participants who did not have any family member carrying the disease were unaware that
Alzheimers was a fatal disease. This confirmed that Alzheimers disease is still regarded as a
minor or slightly less severe disease due to the publics unawareness. This article is an essential
component to my research because it stresses the need for Alzheimers disease awareness with
enough evidence among its research.
Kene, David . "Survey: Growing concern, impact of Alzheimer's in U.S. " The New York
Amsterdam News 29 Nov. 2012: 40. Web.
This periodical addresses Alzheimers disease as a posing threat which is gradually and
unceasingly rising and refers to data released by the Banner Alzheimers institute (BAI). In a
particular survey the institute conducted, more than seven out of ten adults consider Alzheimers
disease as a serious hazard that could amplify during the course of time and consume many lives.
The article proclaims AD should be dealt with properly within a substantial amount of time to
eventually and hopefully establish a cure or solution due to the excessive amount and rate of

individuals diagnosed with the disease. It also mentions and advertises the Alzheimers
Prevention Registry. The Alzheimers Prevention Registry was developed by BAI and other
institutions as an effort and solution to promote the diseases awareness. According to Jessica
Langbaum, a PhD, The Registry is a way that people can make difference. The Alzheimers
Prevention Registry allows individuals to inform themselves about any current progression
within the Alzheimers community. Through the Registry individuals can also volunteer to
partake in surveys, studies, and trials. This periodical is an important assert to my research since
it provides a solution to my topics community problem.

This article emphasizes the necessity of research on Alzheimers disease (AD) to develop proper
treatments for the disease. The article includes a brief overview on ADs origin, anatomy, and
medical discoveries over the course of time. The article also addresses the issue that there is only
a limited amount of drugs available that can diminish the diseases symptoms momentarily.
Since the diseases discovery by Alois Alzheimer, there have only been four drugs within the
span of forty years. This exemplifies the need for research and thorough evaluations for more
drug developments. The article includes several potential discoveries of treatments that have
been developed through a variety of current and probable studies and researches within the
Alzheimers community. The authors also incorporated examples of non-profited organizations
and their vital participation in addressing and enforcing new medical research to initiate the

pursuit for new treatments and cures. Such as, Alzcure, a non-profit drug foundation, which
focuses on developing new treatments and drugs pertaining to AD, as well as other cognitive
disorders. This article is important to my research since it states the variety of advantages that
can be obtained from the result of continuous research on the disease.

The following article addresses in issue in which the majority of Alzheimers patients have been
unable to acquire proper care form the public health system. According to the article, physicians
may be inadequately trained when it comes to counseling individuals regarding Alzheimers
disease care. However, it states the issue could be resolved with the incorporation of
organizations among communities to help and educate physicians on properly providing patients
and family with care, guidance, and necessary information. Such as, the Alzheimers Association
which the article state has led to the improvement of physicians knowledge in asserting proper
cares for Alzheimers patients and relatives. The article then includes an intervention ,or study,
in which data was collected from two community-based physician practices which the several
physicians were observed in their process of interacting with their Alzheimers patients. The
Article states the study highlighted how the connection between patients, family, physicians, and
community could to provide a better quality of care for the Alzheimers patients. This articles is
a key factor within my research because it addresses the influence of organizations like the

Alzheimers Association to partake in the community for the well-being and advantage of
Alzheimers patients and their relatives.

The following periodical discusses various studies that have produced possible explanations for
the substantial causes of Alzheimers disease (AD), as well as, potential solutions and
preventions. The article thoroughly identifies ADs formation and structure. The diseases
symptoms are attributable to the formation of plaques and tangles that contribute to the
destruction of neurons, which are responsible for the intellectual, cognitive, and motor functions
within the brain. The periodical also includes a list of warning signs and myths pertaining to AD
and establishes a connection between the disease and individuals participation in physical
activities and vitamin intake through several analyzed studies. In a particular research that was
mentioned within the periodical, individuals who often participated in physical activities were
45% less likely to attain Alzheimers disease, unlike the individuals who didnt partake in
physical activities frequently. A similar study demonstrated that individuals chances of attaining
AD may vary when it come to their dietary sustainment, in which individuals who contained
high rates of vitamin E were less likely to develop AD. The studies supported the articles claim
which stated that exercising frequently and monitoring nutrition intake could possibly decrease
individuals chances of developing AD through their course of life. This periodical is important
to my research due to sufficient amount of possible forms of prevention for AD based off several
conducted studies.
