Volcano Research Project

Select one volcano to research from around the world and make a model replica of the
volcano, then create a presentation for the class. Use the guiding questions to help you
with your research. Remember, you can be creative with your report. You can make any
of the following in place of a written report: A volcano book, a power-point presentation,
a stand-alone display board, short movie, a rap song or poem, a performance skit, a
foldable (see pages 616-618), and any other artistic creation you may come up with.
However, if you want to do your report in your own way, I will have to approve it before
you begin the project. Regardless of your choice, you must include the answers to the
guiding questions in your presentation or report.
You may use materials of your choice in making the 3D volcano model. You can make a
cake, carve it, and decorate it to match the selected volcano. If you can think it, you can
build it! Some students have used dough, clay, dirt, cement, paper, wood you name it.
