Romanowski, Michael H. "Revisiting the Common Myths about Homeschooling." Clearing

House: A Journal Of Educational Strategies, Issues And Ideas 79.3 (2006): 125129. ERIC. Web. 8 Oct. 2014.
Homeschooling is a well-argued topic in todays society. Romanowski explains how
homeschooling has more of a positive effect on students than attending a public or private
school. As the years go on homeschooling is increasing dramatically, however
fabrications always give all parents, teachers, and students the doubt in their mind that it

will not work. Romanwoski states four different myths or stereotypes throughout the
article; many people worrying that homeschooling produces social misfits,
homeschooling fails to prepare a good citizen, homeschooled children eventually have
trouble entering colleges, and finally most of those who are homeschooled are for
religious reasons. All of the following statements have their support and facts but
homeschooled students do have ways of attending extra-curricular activities outside of
just a school building, examples such as scout clubs, sports, voluntary work, and 4-H
clubs. All of these giving anyone the chance to meet new people. Homeschooling is more
beneficial due to the fact anyone can make a situation work as long as the mind is in no
wrong state. This article is important because many myths are easily believed, but
looking into such a topic with alternative options to see how something can work will
change the outlook of the whole situation.

Terry, Bobby K. "Homeschooling in America A Viable Option." Online

Submission (2011): ERIC. Web. 8 Oct. 2014.
Throughout the passage Bobby Terry explains how homeschooling is more beneficial in ways
relating to the religious aspect of schooling. He explains how in the 1960s all religious studies
in school was banned and taken out of the curriculum. In his opinion, this is what has lead kids to
be bullied, harassed, and how violence has been brought into schools. Not only that, but due to
what kids see on television and social media, that is all brought into public schooling systems.
Also being stated, is the fact that children no longer have to use critical thinking skills, whereas it
is more of memorizing facts and knowing information that is not relevant to basic day-to-day life
situations and procedures. Terry finally finishes explaining how no matter what schooling

technique is used, everyone is an individual and have their own ways of learning and how they
do so is up to them. This article is important because one should realize that school is not just
about the curriculum and that teachers should relate the real outside world problems to the
information students have to learn inside the classroom.

Pearson, Richard C. The Worth Of A Child: Rural Homeschooling/Public School Partnerships

Are Leading The Way. n.p.: 2002. ERIC. Web. 10 Oct. 2014.
Homeschooling is encouraged in this article by Pearson, in his opinion he believes that instead of
students who transfer out of public schools into homeschooling, should not just drop their school
life that teachers should stick with them and help instead. He claims that teachers giving the
positive ambition to both parents and students and can make homeschooling a lot easier and
more proficient, for students to know they have educators and parents on their side to help them
get the education they need. In this article, it is believed that school departments should take
charge in homeschooling, and actually be the ones who instruct schooling inside the students
house. Lastly discussed, is how schools should still offer programs to those who are in fact
homeschooled. This article is important because discussing the relationship between educators,
students, and the parents plays a major role in the students life and future.
