My drive

Living in a society with an ageing population plagued by several diseases and ailments, it was enough
prompt for me to take up a career in Healthcare. Seeing my near relatives succumbing to their illnesses
had left deep scars in my heart, it was quite clear to me that my life was destined to save people and
improve their health conditions by creating awareness and guiding them to better health. To pursue my
career in Healthcare with my favorite subjects being Biology Human anatomy and physiology and
Statistics, Health Science felt tailor made for my ambitions.

Me as a student
In all modesty and humility I would use the words academically focused, intelligent, hardworking and
determined while being effectively articulate to describe myself as a student. A go-getter by nature, I have
always worked with complete resolve and unwavering dedication, always striving to be the best which
reflects in my result having excellent grades so far in my academic career. I am certain that with the above
mentioned abilities in my possession I will be able to successfully partake in and contribute fruitfully to the
Health Science program.

My Experience and field of Interest

Currently, I work for the Department of Health promotions as a Health educator. This job has given me the
chance to work and educate students towards healthy living and inculcate a behavior that promotes
wellness among them. Part of the job responsibility includes creating health awareness among students
through various educational events and presentations such that they are better equipped to prevent and
fight diseases. This program also partakes in making students aware of substance abuse on campus and
sexually transmitted diseases. I have been trained in performing Health assessment tests such as bod-pod
(Body Fat composition test), fitness assessment, stretch assessment and other sport activity related tests. I
get a great opportunity to practice these on students and other clients, answer their health related
questions, and provide some recommendation based on the outcome of these tests. The above job
responsibility translates well with my field of study and interest.
I have volunteered over 100 hours for Mayo clinic pain division. This experience has equipped me with real
patient scenarios, and honed my people management and communication skills.
The above experiences have enthralled me more about Health science public health and community health.
This has only enhanced my resolve to dedicate my life working to improve health not only in America but
also in impoverished countries with dire need for standard Healthcare.

My Goal
My experience not only increased my respect for the Healthcare industry but inculcated a dream to be a
part of this wonderful industry. I will want to grab the opportunity to use and implement the knowledge that
I am currently gaining at University of North Florida and other institutions I have studied or worked for. I
feel I have a sound platform to launch my meaningful towards success and the same time staying true to
my roots. Throughout my young academic life the most important teaching that has inspired me has been
arise awake and rest not till the goal is achieved, by the Indian saint and scholar Swami
Vivekananda, and I shall not rest till I achieve what I have set out for.
