maintaining relationships with stakeholders. Public relations professionals can
be viewed as discourse workers specializing in communication and the presentation of argument and employing rhetorical strategies to achieve managerial
aims. Our goal for the semester is to represent your company, managing a

In this new era of Social Media, opportunity that

was never before known is available to all.

A picture is worth a thousand words; Instagram has revolutionized that

adage into a multi million-dollar company, bought by Facebook. With an estimate
of 150 million users, Instagram is an online photo-sharing, video-sharing, and social
networking services that enables you to apply filters and share photos and videos in
other social media sites such as Facebook, Flicker, Twitter and Tumbler.
Bloom and Nectar will be able to reach those customers who communicate
through pictures and videos. Posting pictures of the restaurants specials on
Instagram will enable you to reach your target market while obtaining inexpensive
publicity. Another way you are able to use this social media site, differently from
others, is that you will be able to share your story such as company culture,
employees, atmosphere and current customers. Finally these pictures and videos
can also easily be shared through other social media sites as listed above granting
you more exposure to other customers.

There are more than 500 million tweets a day, and more than 230 million
active users of Twitter, which makes it the perfect platform for businesses like Bloom
and Nectar. Many college age people, as well as adults from all walks of life use
Twitter to keep up with each other, but also to keep up with businesses.
By using Twitter, Bloom and Nectar will be able to advertise new deals, menu
items, and other information that would be beneficial for their potential customer
base, as well as their current customer base. By providing only 140 characters per
tweet, Twitter makes it easy to advertise and reach out to customers in an efficient
and concise way.

Pinterest is a discovery site that posts linked pictures and divides them into
categories: fashion, home dcor, food, and more. A picture of a dessert or entre
could be posted and then attached to a link to a blog post. Pinterest can exponentially expand brand awareness because it averages 2 billion views per day allowing for
optimal chance for attention and anyone browsing the food page could find a link to
the blog.

Facebook was the beginning of the social networking revolution and still
remains at the top of the charts. Its popularity has remained extremely high as
more than 500 million people have an active Facebook today. This site has become
a major business entity in our generation.
Since your businesses resides in a dominant college student population,
social networking platforms such as Facebook connect you with the community and
allow you to target this generation. When you post your weekly specials , people
who like and share your pages promote your business for you which allows free
advertising to their entire list of friends.

On Facebook people can leave reviews and recommendations for your fan
page. This is instant credibility to all of the users of Facebook who find your
page. Because Facebook fluctuates between the #1 and #2 website in the world so
you can potentially touch 15,000 people if you have 100 fans. Multiply that by 10,
now multiply by 100, you now have exponential growth potential. When you post a
picture, video, link, or status update to Facebook, your 100 fans will see it. If one of
them likes your post, their (average) 150 friends will see your post about your
breakfast or dinner. If 2% of her friends click that link and go look at what you
posted, thats 3 people.

Incorporating a blog for Bloom and Nectar will allow the restaurants to communicate picture, articles, and ideas about menu items, events and specials. A blog
allows customers to communicate problems and/or ideas for the businesses and for
the business to respond in detail without clogging up a news feed. The objective of a
blog is to communicate with the customer using as much interaction (picture, video,
story, etc..) as possible.
Creating a blog will provide an opportunity to expand social media outreach.
Because blogs fall into specific categories, a food/ restaurant blog, people searching
for food inspiration can easily stumble across the blog even if they are not near the
area.

Nectar

105 W 6th Street

Nikki and Scott Woodland:

We are taking this opportunity to tell you where our team stands with the portfolio our team
promised.

We have already written news releases in a range of topics, and compiled an FAQ or a Frequently Asked Questions page, which answers the questions that one would have about
these business establishments.

We are currently working on getting Bloom and Nectar onto various social media platforms
like Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. We will complete this within two weeks.

Another project that we have coming up is a letter to the editor for The Spokesman-Review.
In this, we will write in support of local businesses, or something informing the public of an
upcoming event.

We are also compiling a Code of Ethics for our team, Vanderstar Relations that we would like
to share with you.
We will have our portfolio done by May 17th.
Thank you,

Supporting local farmers is the lifeblood of business Nectar, a small downtown restaurant, serves dishes inspired and provided by famers of the Palouse.
In Mary Mimosas article Where Have the Farmers Gone, published April
14, 2014, Mimosa heavily criticized downtown Moscow for not doing business with local farmers.
Nectar and our sister restaurant, Bloom, strive to serve our customers 100
percent local dishes. Though we do agree that more restaurants downtown
should take advantage of the fresh produce, meat, and grains provided by
the farmers of the Palouse, this article neglected to mention that not all the
restaurants are neglecting the local farmers.
Nectar would like to encourage Mimosa to do an elaboration on her article
and expand on the few businesses downtown that are looking out for farmers. We also encourage the public to come experience where the farmers
have gone Nectar.

Sincerely,
Jamie Sterbis

This is for the Moscow Pullman Daily News. This is not from a real article, but
Nectar would reply to a story like this in a similar fashion if this type of story
was ever published.

Bloom and Nectars Weekly Deals

The owners of Nectar and Bloom have created two restaurants that
are unique and separate themselves from all restaurants in the Palouse area. They have found it difficult to attract a larger number of college students in the area because of the idea that they are expensive places to eat.
What most college students do not know is that there are weekly specials
that both restaurants have provided to attract their demographic. On Tuesdays, Nectar does half off all bottles of wine and has a delicious meatball
sandwich and mashed potatoes for only $10. On Sundays Bloom offers 10
percent off of all breakfast items to attract young college students. The food
at these locations are organic and locally grown, and their menus show
great cultural diversity. For a delicious, healthy and good priced meal,
check out either locations for their weekly college specials.
