Introduction
Working in a field youre interested in and loving your job is very important even though it pays
you less than other. This report will discuss my dream job in future and how I prepare myself to get. The
job is treasurer either in a bank or investing company.

Research
This report requires two type of research interview someone who works in this field and
independent research.
Interview

There are three categories of question, first was about the function of treasury department and
how connected with other departments, how it affected with current economic position. His answer
was treasury ensures the liquidity for company to meet its working capital and its obligation, also, to
invest the surplus funds to maximize the return to the shareholders and policy holders; the department
is working closely with all the departments. And they do not deal with clients, their client is the
company. The global economic slowdown as result of the crisis happens over the world and effect on
the investments.

Second was about career nature, responsibilities, enjoying and challenging factors. He answered
the question what makes him successful toward this job that this was his dream job, and worked
through the year toward achieving his goal, he started as trainee and moved to higher positions
different companies to get it. About his major responsibilities, and How international his work, he said
that he is working with international markets on day today basis. And the company work is all about
international markets. Concerning the advantages and disadvantages, enjoyable and challengeable
factors in his job, he said the advantage is to work in dynamic and challenging environment and the
disadvantage point that his job is very stressful. He is enjoying the daily Challenges and learning new
things every day, as well as the daily challenge is to get the job done to meet deadlines. The average
salary is BHD1000+.

The third, how I prepare myself for my future career. I asked him about the personality and
qualifications he said ethics is the basis of the role, and then the candidate should be dedication, hard
work and Commitment. College degree is important, office skills as well as financial analysis and market
knowledge and some experiences in the same field is requirement is not necessary to be 2-5 years if
employee proves himself they accept him with less than 1 year experiences. Furthermore, he
recommended CFA courses as professional certificates, excel skills, writing, financial analysis are
required too.

At the end of the interview I showed him my CV and asked him for an advice to get this job in
future. His said that I Have the proper academicals qualification B.Sc in Banking and Finance and
Accounting background. Attending some Treasury related courses at BIBF to enhance my knowledge.
And I need to work hard and focus on my target.

Independent Research
Treasury Department is responsible for maintaining the liquidity for day-to-day operations.
Additionally, it also undertakes trading activities with an objective to earn additional income for the
company. It interacts with all other departments to gather information on their cash flow positions.

The issues treasury faced in current economic position is regulation and litigation. All over the
world, banks are facing heavy penalties for breach of misleading the clients during financial crisis.
Additionally, ensuring liquidity is a big challenge in market disruption. (Bradford)

The qualifications, experiences and skills required. For entry level the minimum educational
level is bachelor's degree in Accounting, banking and finance or business administrative.

While, for

advanced level it required higher educational level, for example a master degree in finance, economic,
or a Master of Business Administration (MBA), Moreover, the professional certificates supported the
employees to get higher positions. (Becoming a Corporate Treasurer). For example, Chartered Financial
Analyst (CFA), Certified Treasury Professional (CTP) (CTD), for Bahrainis Tamkeen offers scholarships to
get their professional certificates from BIBF.
Employees within treasury worked entry level jobs in banks. For example: teller, customer
services, retail banking, corporate banking and other departments. The minimum experience required 25 years work experience in banking sector based on vacancies available in the Bahrain and global
market. The average of salary is BHD2000+. (corporate treasure job description)

The job required numerical skills, analytical, budgeting, cash management, risk management
and IT skills. Furthermore, the employability skills are important, treasurer need to be hard worker,
good time manager to meet deadlines, effective communicator in oral and written communications as
he/she deal with clients report to manger in daily basis. (good treasure)

Analysis
Comparing interview results and research findings there are many similar points and some
differences. The similar points are about the function of treasury department within the company. Also,
educational qualification and skills required for the job. Besides the general environment and how the
current economic affect their investing strategy but it presented in different words.

The differences between interview and research is the salary range, he said in Bahrain
BHD1000+ is the entry level, but based on the research the salary is in average of BHD2000+. Also,
regarding to the professional certificates required the online research highly recommended the CTD and
he doesnt mention it but recommended CFA courses. In the research the work experience required is 25 years, but he said if the person is intelligent can get the job with less than one year work experience.
Another different factor is the research indicates a limitation of this vacancy in Bahrain, but he said the
treasury department is growing now a days especially after crisis as all companies aware that is
important to have a department that mentor their liquation.

Conclusion
Since I will graduate with a bachelor degree in Banking and Finance in July-2015 from
Polytechnic, I have the first level of education required. Also, I completed 2 years in B.S. Accounting in
UOB which will support me although.
Graduating from Polytechnic makes me different, As the leaning strategies based on applying
real life experience. Our assessments in finance courses are cases from banks and companies. To work in
banking I covered 4 main courses that are required derivatives, investment portfolio, financial risk
management, and international finance which mainly explains what treasury does.
I have the employability skills as we are applying them in every single course in polytechnic. Im
hard worker and time manger, I can work under pressure, Im managing my time between work ,
personal life and studying beside that I participate in events within polytechnic and some volunteering
works outside, and I have deadlines to meet in each of them. Moreover Im effective communicator I
worked in sales department in Crdi-Max and my current job is sales coordinator in Flexicom, I have to
communicate with customers and report to the manger. Next to the technical skill that I got from
finance courses I believe that there are some technical skills that I need to improve them to get this
position.
If I will rate my education and experiences out of 10 for this position it would be 5-10, as it
advanced position. After graduation I will apply for internships in one of the banks or companies that
offering summer internship, the career center within polytechnic suggests them at the end of each
semester. Then I need to get entry level job in any banking sector, then work hard to improve
educational level by getting a Master degree in economics as there is gap in Bahraini market for
graduates with economic B.S. or master, attend training courses and get professional certificates I
planned to get CFA and CTD and befit from Tamkeen scholarships. Step by step I will work hard on
myself to get higher educational level and higher positions in my future career to reach this position and
will keep in mind Mr. Hussain advices. I believe that in 5-6 years from now I will get it.
