I am writing to apply for an elementary teaching position. I am a graduate of Alma College and
am highly qualified in Elementary Education. I am currently living in the Mid-Michigan area
and seeking a position within the area.
I have completed over 180 hours of classroom placement observation and instruction and taken
all of the required courses through Alma College to obtain a major in Elementary Education and
minor in Early Childhood (ZS). My education and experiences have provided me with quality
methods for teaching in todays modern classroom and have helped prepare me for the
professional world of teaching. My experiences in the classroom include placements in
Preschool, First, Third, Fourth, and Fifth Grades. I also student taught in a Special Education
Preschool and in a Second Grade classroom. After completing these experiences I cans say with
confidence my desire as an educator is to develop students with active minds, a sense of
understanding, and to encourage individuality within my students.
My teaching experiences, service, and teaching abroad experiences in Peru and Ukraine have
allowed me to work with various age and ability groups. Through these experiences I have
learned and developed skills such as classroom management, parent-teacher communication, and
other vital teaching skills. These experiences have also emphasized the importance of your core
mission and curriculum. I am looking forward to the opportunity to encourage students each and
every day to be responsible citizens of an ever-changing world.
During my time at Alma I have worked in the Alma College Admissions Office and as a Senior
Resident Assistant, where I have learned how to calmly handle numerous incidents. Through
these positions at Alma, I have also developed oral and written communication skills, built skills
in relationship building and mediation, and acquired skills in event planning and promotion.
