Chile is not only Latin America's best evaluated economy
but also one of the best evaluated emerging economies
internationally.
Its hallmark stability, transparency and competitiveness
and excellent business prospects position the country not
only as the best destination for foreign investment in Latin
America but also as one of the world's leading
destinations.
In its World Investment Report 2014, UNCTAD ranked
Chile as the world's 17th largest recipient of foreign direct
investment in 2013. With an in ow of US$20,258 million,
Chile took third place in Latin America after the larger
Brazilian and Mexican economies.

latinoamericana y una de las ms reconocidas a nivel mundial.
Sus caractersticas: estabilidad, transparencia, competitividad
y excelentes proyecciones de negocios, lo transforman en el

Latinoamrica y uno de los ms destacados del orbe, lo que
se vio re ejado en las cifras entregadas por la UNCTAD.
En su World Investment Report 2014, la UNCTAD ubic a
Chile como el decimosptimo receptor de inversin extranjera
directa durante 2013. El pas, que totaliz la cifra de
US$20.258 millones por concepto de inversin extranjera
directa, ocup el tercer lugar en la regin, detrs de
economas de mayor tamao, como Brasil y Mxico.

out by risk ratings agencies which have increased or
maintained their high ratings for the country,
highlighting its low level of public debt, the health of
its nancial system and its solid institutions.

published by the World Economic Forum, Chile took
34th place out of 148 economies, ahead of all other

In Transparency International's 2013 Corruption

Perceptions Index, Chile obtained a score of 71 points,
ranking among the 22 best-placed economies out of the
177 countries included in the Index.

obtuvo 71 puntos, situndose entre las 22
economas mejor evaluadas de un total de 177 pases

The capital Santiago is one of Latin America's most
liveable cities, according to the Economist Intelligence
Unit (EIU), and the country is also well evaluated in
studies such as the Global Peace Index which, in 2013,
ranked it 31st out of 162 countries.

services, with a high penetration of technology and
excellent connectivity. In the Networked Readiness Index
2014 published by the World Economic Forum (WEF), it
took 39th place out of 138 economies, ranking rst in

As well as for its high-quality professionals, Chile
stands out as having two of Latin America's ten best
universities, according to the latest Academic
Ranking of World Universities (ARWU). In addition,
the Catholic University of Chile took rst place out of
300 universities around the region in a ranking
published by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), a UKbased consultancy company.

countries, expanding its domestic market of 16.6
million inhabitants to one of over 4,302 million
potential consumers around the world (representing
85.7% of global GDP and 63% of the world's

Adems de poseer profesionales de alto nivel, Chile

destaca por tener dos universidades entre las 10 mejores

primer lugar de Amrica Latina en el ranking elaborado

MINING
Chile is a leading player in the international mining industry
and the world's largest copper producer. Mining companies
are forecast to invest US$104,000 million in Chile over the
next eight years.

AGRIBUSINESS
Chile is one of the world's 15 leading food exporters. The
sector offers opportunity in fruit and agriculture, wine and
grape byproducts, olives, meat and milk byproducts, salmon,
ancillary industries, processed foods and biotechnology
applied to the food industry.

ENERGY
In order to satisfy the increase in demand, the country requires
both conventional projects implemented in accordance with
sustainability criteria and alternative projects. There are
opportunities in alternative renewal energies since, between
2014 and 2025, 45% of new electricity generating capacity will
use energy of this type. The use of LNG will be promoted to
replace diesel in electricity generation as well as for industrial
and residential purposes.

INFRASTRUCTURE
Chile has a portfolio of potential regional infrastructure
projects and concessions projects through to 2020 that are
worth US$18,000 million and US$9,900 million, respectively.

cobre. Se estima que las compaas mineras invertirn
US$104 mil millones en los prximos 8 aos.

AGROINDUSTRIA
Chile es uno de los 15 principales pases exportadores de
alimentos a nivel mundial. El sector ofrece oportunidades en
la industria de la fruta y el agro; el vino y subproductos de la
uva; oliva; subproductos de la carne y la leche; salmn;
industria auxiliar; alimentos elaborados; y biotecnologa
aplicada a la industria alimentaria.

ENERGA
El pas requiere nuevos proyectos para satisfacer el aumento en
la demanda, tanto convencionales con criterios de
sustentabilidad, como no convencionales. Existen
oportunidades en las ERNC, entre el 2014 y el 2025, 45% de la
nueva capacidad de generacin elctrica provendr de este tipo
de energa. El GNL se promover para la generacin elctrica
en reemplazo del disel, para uso industrial y residencial.

INFRAESTRUCTURA
Chile posee una cartera potencial de proyectos regionales de
infraestructura por US$18.000 millones y de proyectos de
concesiones por un total de US$9.900 millones hacia el 2020.
