The Misery of Hearing Loss

By Elton Camp
Though he tries just as hard as he can
Some words he just cant understand
There seems no way he can win
Dare he ask, Please say it again?
Experience has shown him to fear
An angry retort and hateful sneer
Neither can he simply pretend he heard
You dont know what I said, is the word
Experience has shown, again and again
There is simply no way that he can win
He keeps the hearing aids in all day
They finally begin to hurt that way
Still, he uses them early to avoid hate
For the same reason continues late
Its mainly his daughter, not his wife
Whos the cause of needless strife
I see no reason you do this way
She, unfeelingly, angrily did say
All he does, she chooses to forget
And reviles him with an angry fit
But theres little that he can say
His life is going to stay that way
His is a future filled with horror
Hell try harder to hear tomorrow
