Jasmine

Police in England opened a garden shed. They found a

whimpering dog.. It had been locked in the shed. It was dirty
and very thin and had been abused.

The police took the dog, a Greyhound female, to the nearby

wildlife centre. It is run by a man named Geoff. He rescues all
animals needing help.
Geoff and other staff helped her back to health and won her trust
over time. They called her Jasmine. They wanted to find a new
home for her.
Jasmine had other ideas. No-one remembers how it began - she
started welcoming all animals coming to the centre. It didnt
matter if it was a puppy, a fox cub, a rabbit or, any other lost or
hurt animal. Jasmine would give it a lick.
Geoff said: "We had two puppies that had been abandoned. They
were tiny when they arrived at the centre. Jasmine grabbed one
by the neck in her mouth and put him on the sofa. Then she

fetched the other one. She sat down with them, cuddling them."

"But she is like that with all of our animals, even the rabbits. She
takes all the stress out of them. It helps them to feel close to her
and to settle.
"She has done the same with the fox and badger cubs. She licks
the rabbits and guinea pigs. She lets the birds perch on the her
nose."
Jasmine, the abused waif, became the animal centres mother.
She has cared for:-5 fox cubs, 5 badger cubs, 15 chicks, 8 guinea
pigs, 2 puppies and 15 rabbits.
And one deer fawn. Bramble, 11 weeks old, was found in a field.
When she came to the centre, Jasmine cuddled up to her to keep
her warm.

Jasmine showers Bramble with affection. "They are always

together," says Geoff. "Bramble walks between her legs and they
keep kissing each other. They walk together round the centre. It's
a real treat to see them."
Jasmine will continue to care for Bramble until she is old enough
to be returned to the woods.

When that happens, Jasmine will not be lonely. She will be too
busy loving on the next animal that comes to the centre.
Jasmine does best what a caring Mother would do...
