Course Description
The BI Unit is a highly structured and evolving environment for
students who show behavioral and/or emotional problems that
interfere with their learning. Some of the problems these students may
be encountering are: negative peers, low self-esteem, poor academics,
low motivation, and difficulty staying on task.

Our goal is to help these students acquire new tools for: making
daily choices, facing the pressures of a negative environment, forming
relationships, and establishing communication with others. Social skills
instruction helps students learn the skills that are required to
successfully cope with these pressures and interact with others in socially
acceptable ways.
Our real success lies on peer-to-peer interaction as our students

Descripcin del curso

La unidad de BI es un ambiente altamente estructurado para
los estudiantes que presentan problemas de comportamiento y/o
emocionales que interfieren con su aprendizaje. Algunos de los
problemas que estos estudiantes pueden tener son: compaeros
negativos, baja autoestima, problemas acadmicos, baja motivacin y
dificultad para concentrarse.
Nuestro objetivo es ayudar a estos estudiantes a adquirir
nuevas herramientas para: tomar buenas decisiones diariamente,
enfrentar las presiones negativas, formar de relaciones, y establecer
comunicacin con los dems. La instruccin de habilidades sociales
ayuda a los estudiantes a aprender las herramientas que se requieren
para hacer enfrentar con xito a estas presiones e interactuar con otros
en formas socialmente aceptables.

Nuestro verdadero xito radica en la interaccin entre nuestros

estudiantes donde aprenden a establecer relaciones satisfactorias con
sus compaeros y adultos. Se anima a los estudiantes a ser
responsables de su propio comportamiento y de ayudar a sus
compaeros que tienen dificultades para enfrentar problemas
similares.
